Blake Monroe, who previously wrestled for AEW, has won her first championship in WWE, marking a significant achievement since her arrival.
Roxanne Monroe, formerly known as Mariah May and a former AEW Women’s World Champion after a win against Toni Storm, recently won the NXT Women’s North American Championship at the NXT Halloween Havoc event.
Monroe went head-to-head with Zaria, who was stepping in for the injured Sol Ruca. The match immediately became a fierce battle, with Monroe aggressively attacking Zaria. However, Zaria quickly responded with a series of strikes and a powerful slam, changing the pace of the fight.
Okay, so Monroe really zeroed in on Zaria’s arm, just relentlessly attacking it with slams and trying to wear it down with submission holds. But Zaria wasn’t going down easy! Even while clearly in pain, she kept fighting back with some powerful clotheslines and a really impressive suplex. She showed a ton of grit and determination throughout the whole match, refusing to give up despite the punishment.
The match became more intense when Zaria injured her shoulder. Ruca quickly stepped in to help her, but the fight continued with both women trading powerful blows. Monroe cleverly used her hair clip as a weapon to gain an edge. Ultimately, she won the championship by performing her finishing move, the Glamour Shot DDT, twice – first outside the ring and then inside – to pin her opponent.
I was so thrilled to see Monroe win her first WWE title! It feels like such a huge moment for her, and a real turning point for NXT. I’m also really intrigued by what’s going to happen with Zaria and Ruca. Ruca coming back could mean a fantastic one-on-one match with Monroe, or even something more dramatic – I can’t help but wonder if we’ll see Zaria and Ruca turn on each other and have a feud of their own. There are so many possibilities!
