Even though the 2026 Oscars are still months away, people are already talking about potential winners. One film is currently the strong favorite, and betting odds reflect that.
Bookmaker Paddy Power currently favors One Battle After Another to win Best Picture, with odds of 4 to 7.
The movie boasts a fantastic cast, with major stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti. Experts predict it could be nominated for several awards.
This week, Oscar buzz grew even louder when it was revealed that the popular horror film Sinners has entered two original songs to be considered for a nomination.
This decision has led to renewed discussion about which films might be big contenders next spring, even though many potential nominees haven’t been released yet.
According to early predictions from Paddy Power, One Battle After Another is expected to be a major contender at the awards. Timothée Chalamet is currently the favorite to win Best Actor for his work in Marty Supreme (with odds of 10/11), but Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance in the leading film is also a strong possibility at 15/8. Jeremy Allen White (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere) and Dwayne Johnson (The Smashing Machine) are also in the running, though they are considered less likely to win the award.
Jessie Buckley is the frontrunner to win Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet, with the best odds at 2/5. Chase Infiniti, starring in One Battle After Another, is a strong contender at 5/2. Rose Byrne and Renate Reinsve are both tied for third place, with 4/1 odds for their work in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You and Sentimental Value, respectively.
Most predictions suggest Paul Thomas Anderson will win Best Director for One Battle After Another. He’s the clear frontrunner with odds of 4/9. Chloe Zhao (Hamnet), Joachim Trier (Sentimental Value), and Ryan Googler (Sinners) are considered less likely to win.
The trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s new movie, ‘ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER,’ is now available. The film will be released in theaters on September 26th.

As a total movie buff, I’m already seeing which films are generating serious Oscar buzz, and it’s fascinating! It seems like the initial betting odds really do give you a sense of what the Academy might be thinking. Right now, One Battle After Another is getting a lot of attention – people are raving about the performances, but also how beautifully it’s directed and how impressive the whole production is. I saw Paddy Power’s spokesperson saying the odds are leaning towards a big win for it, but anything can happen between now and March, which is what makes awards season so exciting!
These predictions aren’t a sure thing, but they offer a look at what films might be talked about the most next year. Because several movies are still coming out and the Academy hasn’t voted yet, it’s impossible to know for sure who will win—however, One Battle After Another is already generating a lot of excitement.
