Jeremy Renner, known for his role as Hawkeye in Marvel movies, has stated he won’t be part of the next two big team-up films, Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.
Despite featuring a huge cast of well-known actors – including Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hiddleston, Florence Pugh, and Anthony Mackie – the film is still facing challenges.
While appearing on Power 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club to talk about the new season of his show Mayor of Kingstown, Jeremy Renner stated, “I’m pretty busy right now.” He confirmed he isn’t involved in the upcoming Doomsday movie or the Secret Wars project.
Anthony and Joe Russo are directing Avengers: Doomsday, with a screenplay written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. This will be the fifth Avengers movie and the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The upcoming story will unite heroes from the Avengers, Wakanda, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and the X-Men against Doctor Doom, who will be portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.
Although Jeremy Renner won’t be in the new movies, he’s still part of the Hawkeye story through the Disney+ show.
He recently told The Playlist that discussions about a second season are happening. He expressed optimism, saying, “We’re working on making a second season… and it’s going to be great,” suggesting his character’s story will continue on television in a more personal way.
While it’s a shame Hawkeye won’t be in Doomsday, Jeremy Renner seems to be prioritizing roles that offer more complex stories. The Disney+ series provides an opportunity to delve deeper into his character, which Clint Barton fans will likely enjoy.
