The P5X 2.3 update finally includes the 110 banners, giving players options for trying to get limited-time 5-star characters as they become available. It’s understandable if you’re unsure about how these two banner types differ and which one offers the best chance of success.
We’ll compare the two new contract types – Chance and Targeted – explaining how they differ and which one offers the best value.
What are Chance contracts? – P5X

Okay, so those Chance banners have been around forever, since the very beginning of the game. Basically, when a new limited-time banner drops, it’s not just the featured character you can get. It throws all the free 5-star characters into the pool too. Now, your odds of pulling any 5-star character are 0.8%, but if you’re hoping for the special, limited-time character everyone wants, it’s a bit tougher – only a 0.4% chance on each pull.
With this banner, you’re guaranteed to get a 5-star character within 80 pulls. However, there’s a 50/50 chance that 80th pull will be the specific character you want. If you don’t get them, you’ll need another 80 pulls to guarantee it, meaning it could take up to 160 pulls in total.
What are Targeted contracts? – P5X

With Targeted contracts, you can only pull the featured ‘Most Wanted’ character as a 5-star, and the chance of getting them is a fixed 0.4%. This ensures you won’t get a different 5-star character you don’t need, letting you save your resources for the character you want.
With this banner, you’re guaranteed to get the featured character within 110 pulls. It’s a guaranteed result – there’s no random chance involved. If you haven’t gotten the character after 109 pulls, your 110th pull will definitely be the one!
Are Chance or Targeted contracts better? – P5X
Limited-time banners sometimes offer a chance to get a specific, highly sought-after character earlier than usual. However, it relies on a 50/50 chance system, and many players know the disappointment of not getting the character after trying.
Even though it takes around 110 pulls to guarantee a 5-star character, focusing on specific characters you want (Targeted contracts) is always the more cost-effective strategy. You might get lucky with random pulls (Chance contracts) sometimes, but if you plan to collect many characters over time, Targeted contracts will save you money in the long run.
