Keith Urban Sparks Speculation with Apparent Jab at Ex Nicole Kidman on ‘The Road’

During the premiere of his new show, The Road, on Sunday, Keith Urban seemed to allude to the challenges he and Nicole Kidman faced in their marriage.

The show features twelve talented new musicians battling it out for the chance to perform as Keith Urban’s opening act during his U.S. tour.

During the show, the 57-year-old singer performed his song “Straight Line” from his recent album, High. He previously shared on Instagram that the song is about the desire to escape a draining and repetitive cycle.

He exclaimed, “It could be in a relationship, at work, with your creative side, or just within yourself… anything!” The artist explained that the song was about rediscovering a zest for life and overcoming a difficult period.

Urban explained that he chose “Straight Line” as the first song on the album because it captures the overall feeling and energy present throughout the entire record. He also shared that while the album explores a wide range of emotions, it’s ultimately grounded in a sense of shared humanity.

During the show, Urban discussed how touring can be difficult, admitting it sometimes feels “lonely and miserable.” He stressed that performers have to keep going and put on a good show even when they’re personally struggling.

News surfaced in late September that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were ending their 19-year marriage. According to a source who spoke with Page Six, the relationship had simply run its course, though Kidman, 58, reportedly wanted to work things out. She filed for divorce the following day. The couple have two daughters together: Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.

After the breakup, there’s been speculation about a possible relationship between Urban and his guitarist, Maggie Baugh, but it hasn’t been officially confirmed.
