Japanese players of Pokémon Legends: Z-A recently discovered a surprising moment in the game where a character casually references Pikachu using the restroom.
A funny moment in the Pokémon game caught people’s attention online. Players on X started jokingly trending the phrase “Pikachu’s Poop” after discovering an NPC in Lumiose City who says, “Pikachu’s pooping more than usual, I’m worried.” Automaton first reported on the trend.
Okay, so the comment was super short – it didn’t go into *any* detail about, uh, what Pikachu does when he needs to go to the bathroom. But honestly, it stuck with me because Pokémon games almost *never* mention any of the Pokémon actually, you know, needing to use the restroom. I mean, other Pokémon have been shown…doing their business before, but it’s still pretty rare to see it addressed.
Pokémon have some pretty unique waste products! Diglett’s poop is great for growing plants as fertilizer, and Turtonator’s is actually explosive. Interestingly, the droppings of the Fire-type Pokémon Darumaka are so hot that people in its world historically used them for heating.

The English translation of Pokémon Legends: Z-A made a small change to a line of dialogue. Instead of a direct reference to poop, IGN reports the line now says, “My Pikachu’s been having tummy troubles recently. I’m worried…” This ensures the game is appropriate for all ages while still conveying the character’s concern for Pikachu.
This change is consistent with how Pokémon generally handles complex topics. The Pokémon world contains elements like breeding and even the idea of Pokémon consuming each other, but the games and anime typically don’t show or directly talk about these darker or more complicated aspects.
Even minor details in Pokémon games don’t go unnoticed by fans, highlighting how closely the community follows every aspect of the game.
