A group of attractive young friends are enjoying a Hawaiian vacation in a cozy house. Things get strange when one of them, who appears to be local, introduces her friends to Ben, a surprisingly intelligent chimpanzee. Initially, the group is shocked, but she assures them Ben is like family. However, Ben soon begins to behave erratically, and ultimately goes on a destructive outburst.
Animal rights groups will likely dislike this movie, and that’s understandable. However, the idea of a killer chimpanzee terrorizing a group of young people is a classic horror setup that could be effective. Based on the trailer for *Primate*, it seems Ben is the one who will ultimately survive. The moment someone in the trailer questioned who would even *have* a pet chimp really resonated with me.
What Is the Release for the Horror Movie Primate?
The movie *Primate* is scheduled to come out in theaters on January 9th. Historically, releasing a film in January, particularly a horror movie, often meant it wouldn’t do well. However, recent films like *M3GAN* and the 2022 *Scream* have proven that January releases can be successful, so *Primate* might also have a good run.
