Mega Evolution plays a significant role in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, making a comeback after being absent from most Pokémon games for nearly ten years. Originally introduced in Pokémon X and Y, which took place in the same region as Z-A’s Lumiose City, Mega Evolution allows fully evolved Pokémon to briefly become even stronger by harnessing a powerful, ancient energy through a close connection with their trainer.
In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Mega Evolution returns! To use it, you’ll need a special item called a Mega Stone. While not all Pokémon can Mega Evolve, those that can require a specific Mega Stone – for example, Garchomp needs a Garchompite, and Lucario needs a Lucarionite.
This guide details every Mega Stone you can find in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, covering both familiar and brand-new options, and explains how to obtain each one. Please note that this list includes Pokémon that can Mega Evolve but haven’t been officially revealed yet.
Gengarite, Gengar Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
You can buy the Gengarite at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, just south of the Pokémon Center. It’s available immediately after you receive your Mega Ring and costs 50,000 Poké Dollars.
Medichamite, Medicham Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
You can buy the Medichamite at the Stone Emporium, which is south of the Pokémon Center on Vernal Avenue. It’s available for 50,000 Poké Dollars as soon as you receive your Mega Ring.
Abomasite, Abomasnow Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
You can buy the Abomasite at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, which is south of the Pokémon Center. It becomes available right after you receive your Mega Ring and costs 50,000 Poké Dollars.
Scizorite, Scizor Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
You can buy the Scizorite at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, just south of the Pokémon Center. It’s available immediately after you receive your Mega Ring and costs 50,000 Poké Dollars.
Garchompite, Garchomp Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
Okay, so I just found out where to get the Garchompite! You can buy it at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, which is just south of the Pokémon Center there. The best part is, it’s available as soon as you get your Mega Ring. It’s a little pricey at 70,000 Poké Dollars, but totally worth it if you want to Mega Evolve your Garchomp!
Steelixite, Steelix Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
You can buy the Steelixite at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, which is south of the Pokémon Center. It’s available right after you receive your Mega Ring and costs 70,000 Poké Dollars.
Kangaskhanite, Kangashkhan Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
You can buy the Kangaskhanite at the Stone Emporium, which is located south of the Pokémon Center on Vernal Avenue. It becomes available immediately after you receive your Mega Ring and costs 70,000 Poké Dollars.
Charizardite X, Charizard Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
As soon as I got my Mega Ring, I headed straight to the Stone Emporium! It’s just south of the Pokémon Center on Vernal Avenue, and that’s where I was able to snag the Charizardite X. It cost me a whopping 100,000 Poké Dollars, but totally worth it to Mega Evolve my Charizard!
Charizardite Y, Charizard Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
You can buy the Charizardite Y at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, just south of the Pokémon Center. It’s available as soon as you receive your Mega Ring and costs 100,000 Poké Dollars.
Blastoisinite, Blastoise Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
You can buy the Blastoisinite at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, just south of the Pokémon Center. It’s available immediately after you receive your Mega Ring and costs 100,000 Poké Dollars.
Emboarite, Emboar Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
If you choose Tepig as your first Pokémon, you’ll receive the Emboarite along with your Mega Ring as you progress through the game’s story.
If you chose Chikorita or Totodile at the beginning of your game, you can buy the Emboarite at the Stone Emporium. You’ll find the shop on Vernal Avenue, just south of the Pokémon Center. It becomes available after you finish the main story and see the credits, and it costs 100,000 Poké Dollars.
Feraligite, Feraligatr Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
If you choose Totodile as your first Pokémon, you’ll receive the Feraligite and Mega Ring from AZ as you progress through the game’s story.
If you chose Chikorita or Tepig at the beginning of your game, you can buy the Feraligite at the Stone Emporium. It’s located on Vernal Avenue, just south of the Pokémon Center. You’ll be able to purchase it after you’ve finished the main story (after the credits), and it costs 100,000 Poké Dollars.
Meganiumite, Meganium Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
If you chose Chikorita as your first Pokémon, you’ll receive the Meganiumite and Mega Ring from AZ as you progress through the game’s story.
If you chose Feraligatr or Tepig as your first Pokémon, you can buy the Feraligite at the Stone Emporium. It’s located south of the Pokémon Center on Vernal Avenue. You’ll be able to purchase it after you’ve finished the main story (after the credits) for 100,000 Poké Dollars.
Pidgeotite, Pidgeot Mega Stone location – Legends ZA
You can get a Pidgeotite by trading 180 Mega Shards at the Mega Shard Exchange inside the Quasartico building. You’ll need to progress through the story to unlock access to the building first.
