As a big fan of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, I really appreciate how open Whitney Rose is. Since the show started back in November 2020, she’s been so willing to share both the good and the bad parts of her life with all of us Bravo watchers. It’s refreshing to see someone be so real!
Rose recently shared with Us Weekly that her beauty business faced a challenge. She and her husband, Justin, combined her skincare line, Wild Rose Beauty, with another one of their ventures. While they were hopeful at first, the partnership ultimately didn’t work out as expected.
She reported a strong start for the company, but faced undisclosed legal issues that led to her resignation as CEO in November 2024. The company had launched in June of that year. This was particularly difficult for her, as she had integrated her existing beauty brand into the new venture and ultimately had to shut it down and work to regain control of her brand. She estimates her financial losses were in the six-figure range, but under $500,000.
“I realized things weren’t going well soon enough to change course and prevent further losses,” she explained. “The real disappointment is that we were so successful, and I thought I’d finally achieved the goal I’d been working towards with this brand and business. To have that not be the case, and to lose a significant amount of money—over six figures—is truly heartbreaking.”
Even though being on reality TV has caused her financial hardship, Rose is determined to continue sharing her story openly.
I recently read an interview where she laid out her approach to dealing with the public, and it really resonated with me. She basically said she’s always been authentic, and she intends to stay that way. She wants to be upfront and honest, taking control of her own narrative rather than letting others twist things or create false stories. It’s a smart move, and honestly, refreshing to hear.
Rose talked about how she’s been managing her public life while also focusing on her own recovery and well-being.
Dealing with past trauma, family issues, and emotional challenges through therapy has been a process for her, and it occasionally made it hard to film the show. She remembered one especially tough moment from season 3, when she had a strong disagreement with her third cousin and castmate, Heather Gay.
Rose said she found it very difficult to watch footage of a fight she had with Heather while they were both wearing lingerie in Arizona. She explained she was heavily intoxicated and emotionally vulnerable at the time, having just revealed to the group that she was working through childhood trauma. The fight with her best friend was particularly upsetting for her.
Rose thought about leaving the show because it was so stressful and she was dealing with personal difficulties, but she decided to stay for her family and the support of her fellow cast members. She specifically credited Lisa with giving her the confidence to continue, saying, “Lisa was actually the one who convinced me that I can do this.”
As the sixth season unfolds, Rose feels good about being open and honest, even when it’s challenging. She shared, “I’m proud of myself for being authentic and talking openly about how difficult it is to recover from a business setback.”
You can watch The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City on Bravo every Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. If you miss an episode, or want to rewatch, they’re also available on Peacock.
