Anyone who’s spent a lot of time playing ‘Bloodborne’ knows how incredibly detailed and well-crafted the game is. However, there are a few small glitches and strange things hidden within it. Once you notice them, they become hard to ignore on subsequent playthroughs. They don’t ruin the game by any means, but they’re those little details that briefly break your immersion.
Here’s a collection of minor errors, visual bugs, and inconsistencies that players have found in the game across different versions. For each one, we’ll tell you where it happens and how to reproduce it yourself, so you can check it out. Think of this as a guide to all the strange little details hidden within the game world.
Gascoigne Cutscene Blood Reset
As you approach Father Gascoigne in Central Yharnam, you’ll notice a bloody path left by earlier battles. Once his introductory cutscene begins on the bridge, look behind you – the bloodstains on the ground will appear different than what you just walked through. This change is a visual reset, and will return to the original pattern if you reload the area or die and respawn.
You can check this by attracting enemies to the bridge and leaving bloodstains before starting the battle. Once the cutscene begins, pay attention to how the patterns on the ground change when you regain control. This issue happens even on powerful computers using performance mode and is noticeable at various screen resolutions.
Floating Blood Echo Orbs In Elevators
If you die while using a moving lift, like the one in Cathedral Ward, your blood echo will reappear where the lift *was* when you died, not necessarily where it is now. This means if the lift has moved since your death, your echo might float in mid-air or even outside the lift itself. This happens because the game records your death location before fully updating the lift’s new position.
This glitch can be recreated by falling from a descending platform to your death, then respawning at the lamp. The collectible orb usually appears floating at the height where the platform stopped. Calling the elevator to the other floor will often bring the orb within reach, and it’s easy to spot before you grab it.
Hunter’s Dream Gravestone Text Mismatch
The tombstones in the Hunter’s Dream show which chalice dungeons and areas become available as you play. Across different languages, the text on the tombstones and in the warp menu don’t always match up perfectly, with slight differences in capitalization and wording that remain even when you switch languages. Even in English, the labels on the tombstones and the names in the travel menu aren’t always identical.
To confirm this, try changing the system language to something else and then checking the names of the gravestone and lamp, as well as the travel option for a specific location. If they don’t match, even after refreshing the game, it means different labels were used for those items during translation.
Amelia Cutscene Geometry Pop
In the cutscene with Vicar Amelia, the camera moves across the floor of the Grand Cathedral. Sometimes, parts of the floor or railing behind Amelia appear briefly and flicker on the left side of the screen. This happens because of a technical issue with how the game renders objects, and it’s more noticeable when the game runs smoothly with a consistent frame rate.
To see the visual effect, go to the foggy entrance and start the video sequence. Pay close attention to the left side of the screen during the initial wide view – the effect appears quickly but can be triggered again and again, regardless of what you’re wearing or how you’re moving. If you skip the video, the effect won’t appear at all, as it only happens during that pre-recorded scene.
Eileen Quest Flag Soft Locks Dialog
Eileen the Crow’s storyline progresses as you explore different areas of the game. If you defeat the Blood Starved Beast before you meet her in the Tomb of Oedon, it can disrupt her quest. This can cause you to miss important conversations and she might disappear without explanation after you beat certain bosses, even if you weren’t supposed to encounter her yet.
To begin, start a new game file and meet the character in Central Yharnam. Then, quickly travel to Old Yharnam and defeat the beast before returning to her. If you don’t do this in order, her appearance at the Tomb of Oedon might not activate, but she could still become hostile in Cathedral Ward. If you go to Cathedral Ward too early, the quest will end without you receiving the reward.
Micolash Pathing Leash Exploit
Okay, so fighting Micolash in the Nightmare of Mensis? It’s kinda weird. He runs around on set paths and teleports a lot. But here’s a trick I learned: when he goes into his second phase, if you hang back near the doorway and stay to the side as he tries to come at you, he can get stuck. He’ll basically repeat the same sidestep move over and over, and won’t actually close in on you. It’s like he’s stuck in a loop, so you can get some breathing room and plan your next move before going all-in.
To fix this issue, follow him through the mirror into the bigger room, then quickly move back to stand in the doorway after he appears. Observe his movements – he’ll try to walk this path and will repeatedly step to the side near the doorway. Moving forward a few steps will stop this pattern and make him act normally again.
Rom Arena Fog Aggro
In the Rom, the Vacuous Spider fight, fog and water effects are used to disguise when the smaller spiders will appear. If you get close to the edge of the arena before the boss lands, those smaller spiders can notice you through the fog and start attacking *before* you even see their health bars. This is especially noticeable if you stay near the outside of the arena, avoiding the main trigger point.
To confirm this, walk around the edge of the lake, staying out of deep water. Pay attention to nearby spiders – they should turn to face you even before the boss attacks. Wading into the water to the correct depth will begin the battle normally and reset the enemy creatures to their initial starting positions.
Maria Hair Clip In ‘The Old Hunters’
During quick turns in the Research Hall and Astral Clocktower, Lady Maria’s ponytail sometimes appears to clip through the brim of her hat. This is most noticeable when the camera focuses on her upper body during transitions, as the way her hair and clothing move briefly become misaligned, causing strands of her ponytail to pass through her hat.
Start the character’s transformation and position yourself so the camera clearly shows her face and upper body. Gentle, up-and-down camera movements will help highlight the animation as her hair resets. A visual glitch appears briefly during each transformation, disappearing once the animation stabilizes, then reappearing with the next phase change.
Lantern And Door Placement Oddity In Cathedral Ward
Okay, so I was exploring Cathedral Ward, heading down from the Grand Cathedral towards the lower square, and I noticed this locked door. It’s right next to a lamp, and the way the light shines around the edges of the door… it *looks* like there’s a room behind it. But honestly, I’ve checked everywhere – you can’t get in, and there *is* no room! It’s just a weird visual trick, making you think there’s a secret path where there isn’t one. It really messes with your head!
From the cathedral, walk down and position yourself at the doorway with the damaged railing, looking out over the large figures below. Slowly move the camera to highlight the light shining through the cracks. Looking up from below – whether with binoculars or video footage – reveals that the doorway leads directly into a flat, solid wall.
Byrgenwerth Moon Seam
Okay, so I was exploring Byrgenwerth, and the moon in the sky is really cool – it actually moves a little as you look around! But I noticed something weird near the lake. If you look carefully, there’s this really faint line where the sky seems to split, like two pictures were stitched together. It’s hard to see, but if you tilt the camera up so the moon is in the top third of the screen, it becomes pretty noticeable.
Position yourself close to the edge overlooking Rom’s arena and slowly turn around while looking up. The break in the scenery will appear as a flickering straight line due to the changing perspective. If you move a few steps to the left or right and it disappears, that proves it’s simply a boundary in the background image, not a trick of the light.
