Lots of new and returning shows are coming out in the next few days, including spy animation, political dramas, a documentary about the NBA, and a thriller based on a true story from Portugal. Here’s a quick guide with the main details – what each show is about, who stars in it, and who made it – to help you choose what to watch first.
The dates below cover new shows and movies arriving between Tuesday, October 14th and Friday, October 17th. We’ll give you information on the actors, creators, and a quick summary of the plot for each title. This information focuses on what the shows are about and who’s involved – we won’t be detailing how or when they’ll be released.
‘Splinter Cell: Deathwatch’ (2025–)
Inspired by the ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell’ video game series, this animated show for adults centers on Sam Fisher, a seasoned spy who’s brought back into action. He’s tasked with mentoring a new agent while uncovering a complex conspiracy that reaches across different organizations and countries. Liev Schreiber provides the voice for Sam Fisher, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Janet Varney also star. Derek Kolstad developed and executive produced the series, with Guillaume Dousse directing and Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans composing the music. It will be released on Tuesday, October 14th.
The series is being made by Ubisoft Film & Television, with David Kolstad—the creator of ‘John Wick’—leading the writing and also serving as an executive producer alongside Ubisoft’s leaders. The show features a more mature Sam Fisher and introduces his new teammates, all while staying true to the stealth and spy themes of the original game. Ubisoft’s teams in both North America and Europe worked together to determine the show’s voice acting, overall feel, and storyline.
‘No One Saw Us Leave’ (2025–)
This dramatic series, based on real events in Mexico, follows a mother fighting for her children after a difficult divorce. Her husband takes the kids, leading to a complicated custody battle that involves two powerful families. The story unfolds with scenes set in the 1960s and stars Tessa Ía, Emiliano Zurita, and Juan Manuel Bernal. It will debut on Wednesday, October 15th.
María Camila Arias created the series, and Lucía Puenzo and Nicolás Puenzo were among the directors. The show tackles important social issues, particularly how the legal system, family relationships, and community views impact the main character’s struggles.
‘Starting 5’ (2024–)
This docuseries offers an inside look at the lives of NBA stars throughout an entire season, showing everything from practices and injuries to travel and their families. It captures real, unfiltered moments both on and off the court, including all the excitement of game days. Recent seasons have followed players like Jaylen Brown, Kevin Durant, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the show returns on Thursday, October 16th.
As a huge sports fan, I was really intrigued to learn who was behind ‘Starting 5.’ It’s a powerhouse team-up! LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s Uninterrupted are producing, alongside Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground, and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions. Peter J. Scalettar is the showrunner and a director, with Trishtan Williams and others also directing episodes. Basically, they’re combining incredible access, strong relationships with the league, and really solid documentary filmmaking skills to tell the story of the season.
‘The Diplomat’ (2023–)
Debora Cahn’s compelling drama centers on Kate Wyler, a seasoned diplomat dealing with global challenges, complex relationships, and the difficulties of a public marriage. Keri Russell stars as Kate, supported by a talented cast including Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, and Ato Essandoh. Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford joined the show in later seasons. The new season premieres on Thursday, October 16th.
This series, from the creator of ‘The West Wing’ and ‘Homeland’, combines the high-stakes world of international diplomacy with the personal lives of those involved. It focuses on the work happening within embassies, at the heart of the British government, and in Washington D.C.’s power circles. The show features a wide cast of characters, following both British and American officials as their paths cross with the main character’s work.
‘Romantics Anonymous’ (2025)
This new film is a Japanese-South Korean remake of a 2010 French-Belgian movie. It tells the story of a talented but very shy chocolate maker who starts working at a small shop and develops a special connection with the owner’s son, who has trouble with physical contact. Both characters surprisingly don’t feel anxious around each other. The film stars Shun Oguri, Han Hyo-joo, Yuri Nakamura, and Jin Akanishi, and will be released on Thursday, October 16th.
As a movie and TV fanatic, I’m really intrigued by the team behind this series! It’s a truly international effort, with creative minds from both Korea and Japan – Park So-yeon is developing it, and the writing team includes Kim Ji-Hyun and Yoshikazu Okada. They even had a sneak peek at the Busan International Film Festival, which is always a good sign, before releasing it fully. It suggests they’re aiming for something special.
‘Turn of the Tide’ (2023–)
This Portuguese thriller, based on a true story from the Azores islands, follows Eduardo and his friends when a boat full of cocaine appears near their home. This discovery throws their quiet lives into chaos and pulls them into a dangerous situation. The series stars José Condessa alongside Helena Caldeira, Rodrigo Tomás, André Leitão, and a talented cast. New episodes will be available starting Friday, October 17th.
The series was created by Augusto Fraga, who also directed alongside Patrícia Sequeira. Writers include Fraga, Hugo Gonçalves, and João Tordo. It’s produced by UKBAR Filmes and, over several seasons, has built upon its world, continuing to be inspired by the true events of the 2001 Rabo de Peixe incident.
