Saoirse Ronan will play Linda McCartney in a new biopic series about The Beatles, directed by Sam Mendes.
She will act with Paul Mescal, who will play Paul McCartney in the film. He and Linda McCartney were married from 1969 until her death in 1998. Linda was a keyboard player and singer in Paul’s band after the Beatles, called Wings.
The remaining members of the Beatles have also been cast: Harrison Dickinson will play John Lennon, Joseph Quinn will be George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr. The project will be a series of four films, with each movie telling the story from the point of view of a different Beatle.
I recently got a preview of the upcoming films about The Beatles, and let me tell you, they really capture the band’s incredible journey. It’s a story of how four guys from Liverpool took over the world, all the way up to their split in 1970. The filmmakers put it best: each Beatle had his own unique path, but it was when they came together that they became truly legendary. It’s a powerful sentiment that really comes through in the footage.
The four movies are scheduled to premiere in cinemas in April 2028. Sony Pictures is calling it a “first-of-its-kind movie event, designed to be watched all at once,” but the specific release dates for each film haven’t been announced yet.
This series tells the Beatles’ story in a new way, exploring their individual lives and how they came together to change music and culture forever.
