Louis Tomlinson recently discussed his tour, new music, and an upcoming documentary series featuring Zayn Malik during an appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast. He also opened up about the loss of his friend Liam Payne last year, and how Niall Horan contacted him to offer support. Louis Tomlinson recently opened up about learning of Liam Payne’s passing. He was driving in Los Angeles when he received the news from Niall Horan. Tomlinson described feeling a similar emotional shock to when he learned of his sister Félicité’s death at age 18.
He described feeling helpless when Félicité and Liam Payne were battling substance use, realizing that even his full effort wasn’t enough. He admitted he’d wrongly believed he could fix things, but the issues were far more complex than he understood and beyond his ability to help.
The singer confirmed he knew the man was going through a tough time. He shared that he was deeply saddened by the news of his death and found it hard to believe. He explained that his online post was meant to honor the man and ensure he was remembered fondly.
Honestly, I could literally talk *forever* about how incredible he was. Everyone admired him, you know? Looking back, I don’t think *I* would’ve ever been able to tell him how much he meant to us back then – I was so caught up in my own stuff, so proud. But we *all* looked up to him, a huge amount. It’s just… he was that guy.
