‘Dune’ Star Confirms Role in Upcoming Part Three

Rebecca Ferguson will be back for *Dune: Part Three*, the concluding film in Denis Villeneuve’s *Dune* series.

The actress shared with fans that she’s finished filming her scenes for the movie, but her role is smaller than in previous installments. She explained, “My part isn’t very large – the character barely appears in the book. I’m not even sure I was originally meant to be in it, but Denis [Villeneuve, the director] came up with the idea to include me.”

She highly commended the screenplay, describing it as exceptional. She acknowledged the challenge of adapting the complex source material, noting that it’s a rich and detailed story. She explained that the director attempted to maintain connections to the book while also making creative choices, and expressed her strong admiration for his work, stating that everything he touches is remarkable.

Dune: Part Three adapts Frank Herbert’s novel, Dune Messiah, and picks up where Dune: Part Two left off. The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve, who also co-wrote the script with Jon Spaihts.

The film features many returning stars, including Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica. Joining the cast this time is Robert Pattinson.

The next installment will center on Paul and Chani’s children, Leto II and Ghanima, who will be played by Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke, as the epic story nears its end. Filming started in July, and Warner Bros. plans to release the movie in US theaters on December 18, 2026.

Ferguson clearly admires Villeneuve’s approach and recognizes how difficult it is to adapt such a complex and popular book. I’m really looking forward to seeing this trilogy finish with the original actors and Villeneuve remaining faithful to the novel.
