Netflix is turning Roald Dahl’s 1980 children’s book, *The Twits*, into a movie. The story follows a terrible couple who enjoy being mean to each other and everyone around them. However, the new trailer suggests there’s more to the story than just their unpleasant behavior. Here’s the official description of the film:
Phil Johnston, known for his work on films like *Ralph Breaks the Internet*, brings Roald Dahl’s famously unpleasant couple, Mr. and Mrs. Twit, to the big screen in a brand-new animated movie. *The Twits* follows the story of the world’s meanest, smelliest people who run a truly terrible amusement park called Twitlandia. When the Twits take control of their town, two courageous kids and a family of magical creatures called Muggle-Wumps must use their wits to save the day.
Phil Johnston, the director of *Wreck-It Ralph*, wrote the screenplay with Meg Favreau. Katie Shanahan and Todd Demong co-directed the film, and Jellyfish Pictures, known for their work on *The Boss Baby* and *The Bad Guys*, provided the animation. The movie also features new music by David Byrne and Hayley Williams.
The movie features a fantastic cast, including Margo Martindale, Johnny Vegas, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Ryan Lopez, Emilia Clarke, Natalie Portman, Timothy Simons, Nicole Byer, Jason Mantzoukas, Alan Tudyk, Mark Proksch, Rebecca Wisocky, and Charlie Berens.
The trailer perfectly showcases how unusual this film is. Director Johnston described the movie as a “strange, ugly baby” and expressed excitement for audiences to experience it, speaking on behalf of the entire eccentric team who created it.
What Is the Release Date of The Twits on Netflix?
Let’s hope those terrible Twits don’t have any children when the movie comes to Netflix on October 17, 2025.
