What does Memory and Meng Po Soup do?
Rin has a special ability focused on collecting ‘Memory’ to create Meng Po Soup. She gains Memory in two ways: First, she earns 1 Memory for every 10 points of Speed each turn, up to a maximum of 18. Second, her ability ‘Underworld Fury’ quickly builds Memory, especially when she attacks multiple enemies.
When Rin collects 40 Memory stacks, she receives Meng Po Soup for one turn. This boosts her skills, giving them a 50% chance to inflict the ‘forget’ status effect. It also unlocks the enhanced versions of her Flowers of Naihe and Lion Dance of Oblivion skills.
How to use Rin in P5X
Use Underworld Fury until you have Meng Po Soup
When playing Rin, focusing on building up her Memory stacks is key to maximizing her damage and ability to weaken enemies. Her basic attack, Underworld Fury, should be your go-to move because it lowers enemy defenses, helping your team deal more damage, and it builds those Memory stacks faster than anything else. Use it even against single opponents – even though Rin’s direct damage might be lower in those situations, the speed at which you build stacks is worth it.
Inflict Forget on bosses
Lion Dance of Oblivion is best for dealing high damage to groups of enemies. However, against bosses, Flower of Naihl is more effective. It inflicts ‘Forget,’ which limits the boss to only their simplest attack, significantly reducing their damage and preventing them from using frustrating special abilities.
Best team composition for Rin in P5X
- Wonder
- Joker
- Rin
- Sepia OR 5-Star DPS
Okay, so I’ve been experimenting with team builds, and honestly, Rin shines as support for Joker. They’re both Curse-based, which is awesome because their attacks really boost each other. I *can* use Rin to deal damage directly if I need to, but she’s way more effective when she’s focused on debuffing enemies, setting up big hits for Joker and Wonder. As for the last spot? It’s pretty flexible. If I’m really going all-in on a Curse team, Sepia is a must-have. But if I just need a strong damage dealer, Panther or Queen fit right in and do the trick!
Best weapon for Rin in P5X
Weapons in this game get better as you collect higher-star versions. More stars mean improved stats and abilities, so aim for the best weapons when developing your character. Below are the stats and effects for all of Rin’s weapons:
- Staff (2-star) – HP 84; ATK 29; DEF 16 – Increase Attack by 11.3%
- Willowstaff (3-star) – HP 101; ATK 34; DEF 20 – Increases damage taken by foes with Forget by 14.4%.
- Sunstaff (4-star) – HP 135; ATK 46; DEF 27 – Increase Attack by 12%. After inflicting a debuff, increase Speed by 8 for 1 turn. Stacks up to 2 times. Gain 2 stacks at the start of battle.
- Infinite Moment (5-star) – HP 169; ATK 58; DEF 33 – Increase Speed by 15. After attacking a foe with a skill, inflict Waters of Oblivion on the main target. Waters of Oblivion: Increase foe’s damage taken by 1.2% for every 1 of Yaoling’s Speed for 1 turn. Increase Yaoling’s Speed by 15 for 2 turns. After spending Mang Po Soup to use a skill on a foe, inflict this effect on all foes.
Best Revelation Cards for Rin in P5X
When choosing Rin’s Revelation Cards, you have two options: Hindrance and Departure, or Prosperity and Departure. Hindrance is simple – it increases the damage from Curses, especially if the enemy already has negative effects, which Rin excels at applying. Prosperity reduces the damage Rin takes and fills her Highlight gauge, but it’s the Departure combo that really makes this set strong.
Hindrance gives Rin a 30% Attack boost after defeating an enemy, which is helpful if you’re building her as a damage dealer. Prosperity, on the other hand, increases the Attack of your whole team by 8% each time Rin attacks.
The best set for Rin depends on her role: use Hindrance if she’s dealing damage, and Prosperity if she’s providing support.
