Fox has confirmed that The Great North, the network’s well-liked animated comedy series, has been cancelled and won’t be back for a sixth season. More details are available here.
This announcement follows closely after the fifth season of the show finished airing. The series was overseen by executive producers Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, and Loren Bouchard, and it has been a consistent and popular part of Fox’s Animation Domination programming block since it first began.
Michael Thorn, the President of Fox Television Network, expressed his gratitude for everyone who worked on the show.
As a big fan of animation, it really hit me when I heard the news about The Great North. The creator shared that they’re incredibly thankful for Wendy, Lizzie, Loren, and the whole cast and crew-they really poured their hearts into the show. It’s sad to see it go after five seasons of hilarious moments as part of the Animation Domination lineup, but they’re so grateful for everything the team accomplished.
The end of The Great North also means Fox has finished canceling its “bubble” shows for 2025. These included Rescue HI-Surf, Accused, Alert: Missing Persons Unit, and The Cleaning Lady. While Accused might return as a one-time event, the other shows – including The Great North – have been canceled. Some of these decisions, like the cancellation of Rescue HI-Surf, were made earlier this year. However, the fate of The Great North and the other shows wasn’t finalized until their latest seasons finished airing.
The Great North originally aired starting January 3, 2021, and finished with its fifth season on September 14, 2025. The series starred voice actors including Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Will Forte, Dulcé Sloan, Paul Rust, and Aparna Nancherla. Throughout its run, Fox repeatedly renewed the show, often before each new season even began, which showed how much faith they had in its success.
For five seasons, viewers have loved the show’s funny moments, relatable family relationships, and unusual stories that took place in Alaska. Now that the show has ended, fans are left with the chance to remember their favorite episodes and the characters they’ve come to know.
