Wondering what’s popular on Max right now? Here’s a quick look at what everyone is watching. The platform’s “Most Watched” list includes everything from action-packed superhero shows and high-quality crime dramas to late-night documentaries and familiar reality TV series from channels like TLC and ID. You’ll find scripted shows, compelling true-crime documentaries, and long-running unscripted favorites.
Here’s the complete countdown, starting from number 10 and going down to 1. Each listing provides useful information – like the show’s premise, its creators, and the cast – to help you choose your next watch.
10. ‘Sister Wives’ (2010– )
TLC’s popular documentary series has followed the Brown family – starting with Kody Brown and his wives Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn – and their kids for over ten years. The show captures their moves, relationships, and significant life changes. It first aired in 2010 and continues today, with details like cast and crew lists and episode guides available on various websites and the official show pages.
Season 20 began airing in late September 2025, focusing on the family’s present situation and openly discussing what the future holds for their plural marriage. Previous seasons documented the family’s relocations across Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. You can watch the series on Max, which is part of WBD’s TLC collection.
9. ‘The Real Murders on Elm Street’ (2024– )
Investigation Discovery’s docuseries focuses on true homicide cases that happened on streets called “Elm.” Each episode combines interviews with people involved, archival footage, and dramatic reenactments. The first season premiered in 2024, and Season 2 began airing in October 2025 as part of ID’s crime programming block, with episodes also available to stream on Max after they first air on television.
The cast for these dramatic productions features performers like Olivia Abreu and Adam Chisnall, and Donnie Eichar is one of the directors. You can find episode titles and the broadcast schedule for October and later months on the network listings and the show’s ID page.
8. ‘Welcome to Plathville’ (2019– )
This TLC reality show documents the lives of the Plath family, a big family with traditional Christian values. As the show goes on, their older kids start exploring more typical American lifestyles. Over seven seasons, the series features parents Kim and Barry Plath, and their children including Ethan, Olivia (through marriage), Moriah, and Micah. The show covers events from 2019 to 2025.
News reports have covered significant personal changes, such as the divorce of Ethan and Olivia Plath and Olivia’s departure following the Season 7 finale. The show’s continuation hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. Previous seasons are available for streaming on WBD platforms, including Max.
7. ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’ (2019– )
‘The Other Way’ offers a fresh take on the show’s core idea: instead of foreigners coming to America, American couples move overseas to be with their partners. This presents challenges like learning a new language, dealing with different family traditions, and navigating foreign laws. TLC’s official series hub provides information on each season’s couples, including when the shows first air and the broadcast schedule.
As a huge fan, I’ve been watching this show since it started in 2019! It’s produced by Sharp Entertainment, and they really go all out – filming in different countries every season. Each episode is well over an hour long, and they also do tell-all specials and other related shows. You can stream it all on Max, as part of the TLC library.
6. ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’ (2016– )
As a big fan of the ’90 Day Fiancé universe, I’m really enjoying this TLC spinoff! It’s fascinating to check back in with couples we already know from the original show. We get to see how they’re handling married life, dealing with family drama, bridging cultural gaps, and still working through all the immigration stuff after getting their K-1 visas. It’s produced by Sharp Entertainment, and what’s cool is they switch up the couples each season. Instead of just one-off episodes, they follow these relationships over multiple episodes, showing us all the good times and the setbacks they face. It really feels like you’re watching their lives unfold!
The latest seasons maintain the show’s reality-TV style, following both new and familiar couples. Network announcements and industry news detail when the seasons begin, who’s in the cast, and how many episodes to expect. The show is available to stream on Max, along with other programs from TLC, all part of the WBD family of networks.
5. ‘Halloween Baking Championship’ (2015– )
As a baking competition fan, I have to say Food Network’s seasonal show is a real treat – and a little spooky! It pits incredibly talented pastry chefs against each other in challenges that aren’t just about how something tastes, but also how beautifully – and creatively – it’s made. They’re really looking for over-the-top presentations here. Throughout the series, John Henson has been a fantastic host for many seasons, and I’ve enjoyed the judging panel, which has included the wonderful Carla Hall, Zac Young, and Stephanie Boswell. It’s become a yearly tradition for me to watch the episodes when they air each fall, and I highly recommend it!
Looking at the show’s history, it started with just four episodes in its first season and gradually expanded to eight episodes per season. The current version still features Hall, Young, and Boswell as panelists, with Henson as the host. Old promotional materials also show who hosted and appeared on the show in previous seasons.
4. ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’ (2014– )
John Oliver’s HBO show each week combines funny investigations with satirical news. Each episode includes in-depth reports, segments filmed on location, and Oliver’s commentary from the studio. The show, which has been on for a long time, is created and hosted by Oliver. It’s directed by a team including Joe Perota, Christopher Werner, Jim Hoskinson, Paul Pennolino, and Bruce Leddy, and narrated by David Kaye.
The show is executive produced by John Oliver, Tim Carvell, Liz Stanton, James Taylor, and Jon Thoday. It’s a production of HBO Entertainment, in association with Avalon Television and Partially Important Productions. Episodes are filmed in New York and typically last between 30 and 45 minutes.
3. ‘The Friday the 13th Murders’ (2025– )
This Investigation Discovery true-crime series delves into actual homicide cases that happened on or near the most infamous date on the calendar. The first season, consisting of six parts, will debut in October 2025. ID will air new episodes weekly, and each episode will feature detailed investigations and stories from those who survived.
This series is featured in ID’s fall programming and is available to stream on Max, along with other non-scripted shows from WBD. Announcements and the show’s page on ID detail that each episode will explore detectives, forensic science, and the difference between the myths and the reality surrounding Friday the 13th.
2. ‘Task’ (2025)
‘Task’ is a seven-part crime drama created and written by Brad Ingelsby. It’s set in the working-class areas surrounding Philadelphia. The show follows an FBI team investigating a series of dangerous robberies, all while mistrust grows within the group. The series stars Mark Ruffalo, Tom Pelphrey, Raúl Castillo, Sam Keeley, Emilia Jones, Thuso Mbedu, Jamie McShane, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Silvia Dionicio, and Martha Plimpton.
New episodes are released each week on HBO/Max. Recent episodes show Robbie Prendergrast (played by Pelphrey) and Eryn (played by Margarita Levieva) trying to stop the “Dark Hearts” group, while Tom Brandis (played by Ruffalo) looks into the possibility that someone within his team is a traitor.
1. ‘Peacemaker’ (2022– )
This DC series was created by James Gunn as a follow-up to ‘The Suicide Squad’. It centers on Christopher Smith-also known as Peacemaker-and his dangerous, covert operations which challenge his belief in achieving peace no matter the price. John Cena stars as the title character, alongside Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn. Season 1 also included Robert Patrick.
James Gunn was the showrunner and main writer for the series, directing some episodes himself, with others directed by different people throughout the season. The show was a collaboration between DC Studios, The Safran Company, and Warner Bros. Television. It first launched on HBO Max in January 2022 and continued streaming on Max. He oversaw all aspects of creative direction. Production was a significant undertaking.
