You’ll find everything from epic historical dramas and exciting travel shows to classic anime and mind-bending thrillers – plenty to keep you entertained in your free time.
Here are ten recommended titles from this week’s new releases. We’ve featured the newest additions first, followed by original content from the platform, and then included some classic or significant films and shows now available on the service. Each listing includes a brief description of the story, as well as the main cast and crew, so you can quickly find something to watch based on your preferences.
‘Genie, Make a Wish’ (2025– )
This romantic fantasy brings Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy back together on screen. It’s about a playful genie who comes back to the present day and meets a woman who can’t experience feelings. The story mixes the fun of having wishes granted with a heartfelt message about human connection, and Ahn Eun-jin is also one of the main actors.
Created by Hwa&Dam Pictures and written by Kim Eun-sook, the series is a major Korean offering in Netflix’s fall schedule. Marketing for the show highlighted the return of the stars from ‘Uncontrollably Fond’ and promised a mix of humor, romance, and impressive visual effects. It’s been positioned as a key title for the streaming platform.
‘The New Force’ (2025– )
This period drama takes place in Stockholm in 1958 and centers on the very first group of women to train as police officers. The story follows a police district’s innovative attempt to include women in the force. Josefin Asplund, Agnes Rase, and Malin Persson star as the recruits who must overcome established customs, opposition within the system, and challenging cases that push them to their limits.
Created by Patrik Ehrnst and produced by Art & Bob, each episode is directed by Rojda Sekersöz and a team of other directors. The show is notable as Netflix’s first Swedish period police drama, and the production team paid close attention to details of the mid-20th century while also focusing on developing a strong cast of characters within the police station.
‘Old Dog, New Tricks’ (2025)
This Spanish comedy follows Antón, a country vet who starts working at a trendy pet store in the city. He’s completely unprepared for the world of urban pets, leading to lots of funny situations. Luis Zahera stars in the film, alongside Lucía Caraballo and Carmen Ruíz, as simple veterinary cases turn into comical misadventures when Antón is clearly out of his element.
This mini-series was made by Víctor García León for Alea Media, and features writing from Germán Aparicio and Ana Boyero. It’s a show that mixes funny moments from the workplace with realistic, everyday stories. Throughout the season, you’ll also see appearances by Nuno Gallego and other talented actors.
‘Rurouni Kenshin’ (2023– )
Liden Films has remade Nobuhiro Watsuki’s beloved manga, centering on Himura Kenshin, a reformed assassin. He travels through Meiji-era Japan with a unique sword that’s blunted on one side, and has promised never to take another life. Sōma Saitō voices Kenshin, and Rie Takahashi voices Kaoru, as the story retells key plotlines from the original manga.
The show’s creative team features Hideyo Yamamoto as director, Hideyuki Kurata handling series composition, Terumi Nishii designing the characters, and Yū Takami composing the music. Later cours (arcs) of the series built upon the story with refreshed choreography and visual design, but always prioritized maintaining the core relationships and personalities of the original characters.
‘Winx Club: The Magic Is Back’ (2025)
This CG reboot of Iginio Straffi’s ‘Winx Club’ brings the story back to Alfea College. Here, Bloom joins forces with other fairies to create the Winx Club and face magical dangers throughout the Magic Dimension. The show reimagines the original’s familiar format – focusing on school life, building a strong team, and going on exciting adventures – which is what made the franchise so popular around the world. It’s a return to the roots of what fans loved.
Created by Rainbow, this new version updates the show’s look and music, but keeps the same characters and overall story. Initial looks at the reboot highlighted updated character designs and a simpler storyline, aiming to appeal to both new viewers and dedicated fans.
‘The Game: You Never Play Alone’ (2025)
This Tamil psychological thriller centers on a video game creator who becomes the target of carefully planned attacks, both online and in the real world, after launching an enigmatic new game. Shraddha Srinath leads the cast, with performances by Santhosh Prathap and Chandini Tamilarasan, as the plot thickens and the protagonist finds themselves increasingly entangled in a conspiracy.
The series, directed by Rajesh M. Selva, is one of Netflix’s original productions from India. It blends the styles of tech-noir and stalker thrillers. Promotional materials highlight scenes involving social engineering, a strong focus on how people are tracked online, and a complex, mystery-driven storyline that unfolds throughout each episode.
‘Dudes’ (2023– )
Called ‘Manes’ in Spanish, this Colombian dramedy follows a group of people as they navigate the challenges of running a fintech startup, all while dealing with relationships, friendships, and the usual office drama. Diego Cadavid and Laura Londoño lead a talented cast that expertly blends the complexities of workplace politics with the personal turning points in each character’s life.
I’m really excited about this new show! It’s a fresh take on the classic ‘Hombres’ series from 1996. It’s being directed by Mauricio Cruz, and the writing team includes Daniel Ayala López and Diego Ayala López. The episodes follow these guys as they juggle the high-pressure world of business meetings and the vibrant Bogotá nightlife. It’s cool because the show uses the startup they’re building – and how it’s growing – to really drive the characters’ choices and what happens to them. I think it’s a really smart way to tell a story!
‘Love Is Blind’ (2020– )
This unconventional dating show challenges singles to build a connection and even get engaged without ever seeing each other. They date from separate “pods,” relying solely on conversation. Hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey are there to help as couples move from talking through a wall to meeting face-to-face, living together, and making serious commitments.
Developed by Chris Coelen and Kinetic Content, the show has grown to include many seasons and versions around the world, but it still uses the same basic format. Each new season brings a different group of people facing the same challenges, creating new interactions while maintaining a familiar production style.
‘One Piece’ (1999– )
As a huge anime fan, I’ve been following Toei Animation’s adaptation of One Piece for ages! It’s based on Eiichirō Oda’s amazing manga and follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, on their epic quest for the legendary treasure hidden somewhere on the Grand Line. The Japanese voice acting is incredible too – Mayumi Tanaka perfectly captures Luffy’s energy, while Kazuya Nakai is fantastic as Zoro, and Akemi Okamura brings Nami to life. It’s a really large cast of characters, all brilliantly voiced!
The anime has gone through many story arcs, special episodes, and movies. It’s well-known for creating a detailed world that consistently adds new areas, groups, and character histories. Toei maintains consistent creative control, planning for the series’ future to ensure a connected experience throughout its major storylines.
‘Interview with the Vampire’ (2022– )
Based on Anne Rice’s ‘The Vampire Chronicles’ and brought to television by Rolin Jones, this series tells the story of Louis de Pointe du Lac as he remembers his life as a vampire and the complicated relationship he shares with Lestat de Lioncourt. Jacob Anderson plays Louis, alongside Sam Reid as Lestat, Assad Zaman as Armand, and Eric Bogosian as the journalist Daniel Molloy.
Created for AMC Studios with Mark Johnson and the estate of Anne Rice as executive producers, the series is celebrated for its detailed and beautiful depictions of New Orleans and various European locations. Throughout the show’s run, strong performances from actors like Ben Daniels and others have enriched the cast and broadened the story’s focus.
