Netflix and the BBC have confirmed a sequel to Peaky Blinders, promising fans two more seasons that will follow the Shelby family’s continuing adventures.
The next installment of the series will be developed by Steven Knight, who recently shared the news. “I’m excited to reveal this new direction for the Peaky Blinders saga. Like before, it will be set in Birmingham and focus on the city rebuilding after the bombing raids of the Birmingham blitz. The Shelby family’s new generation is now in charge, and it’s going to be quite a journey,” Knight explained.
I’m so excited – the Shelbys are back!
It feels like a whole new era is beginning, with a new generation taking over and a fresh story unfolding. I can’t wait for this new series, because you know the Shelby family will be at the center of it all, and it’s going to be intense. #PeakyBlinders #Shelby #DramaSeries #StevenKnight #Birmingham. I’m already hooked, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

The sequel will feature two seasons of six episodes each. The producers shared a short synopsis setting the stage: “Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel.”
“As the world of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders evolves, the fight to control Birmingham’s huge rebuilding efforts turns incredibly fierce and dramatic. The city offers amazing chances, but also serious risks, and the Shelby family finds themselves right in the middle of all the violence and power struggles.”
Filming for the new series will take place at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham. It’s being produced by Kudos, part of Banijay UK, and Garrison Drama – the same production company making the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie directed by Tom Harper, which is currently being finalized.
Peaky Blinders originally debuted on BBC Two in 2013. Later, Netflix acquired the rights to show it internationally, bringing the story of the Shelby family to viewers around the world. The series quickly became incredibly popular and received praise from critics throughout its run.
I have to say, everyone’s been raving about how brilliantly this show blends crime, history, and a really unique style. The Guardian called it a “riveting, fast-paced tale of post-first world war Birmingham gangsters”, and honestly, I completely agree! They also gave a huge shout-out to Cillian Murphy, and deservedly so – his performance as Tommy Shelby is just so cool and commanding. It’s captivating!
The Telegraph rated the show four out of five stars, describing it as “original” and pointing out that it surprised viewers. Other publications, including Digital Spy and Den of Geek, also praised the series for being clever, visually appealing, and among the most thoughtful dramas the BBC has produced recently.
Now that a sequel is happening, viewers can anticipate seeing a new generation of the Shelby family become the focus, though the story will still revolve around their characteristic drive and willingness to use force.
