Charlie Cox won’t be able to attend Spacecon San Antonio as planned, and fans believe they’ve figured out the reason. He’s currently filming the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, where he’ll be returning as Daredevil.
Filming of the movie started on August 3rd in Glasgow, Scotland, initially known as Blue Oasis. Tom Holland, famous for his role in the Spider-Man films, is also involved in this project. The filming schedule was carefully planned to accommodate his commitments to other films, such as The Odyssey.
Filming happened in downtown Glasgow for approximately two weeks, and certain spots were used to represent New York City.
Holland expressed his enthusiasm about filming on location again, noting it brought back memories of working on Homecoming. Homecoming set,” he explained, “especially since we had to film No Way Home on soundstages due to COVID restrictions.”
Pictures taken on the set in Glasgow revealed armored vehicles displaying red demon logos, leading fans to wonder if certain comic book villains might make an appearance in the movie.
More filming happened at Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, England, and then at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. While filming in September, Tom Holland briefly suffered a mild concussion during a stunt. This caused a pause in shooting for around ten days, but it wasn’t anticipated to delay the movie’s release.
It’s possible that this pause affected Cox’s Spacecon appearance and caused a scheduling conflict.
The group of actors working on the project is getting bigger. Tramell Tillman signed on in late August, and Marvin Jones III will be playing the character Lonnie Lincoln, who is also known as Tombstone. Some of the action sequences were filmed in Basingstoke using stunt doubles, and this continued into early October.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is coming to theaters in the United States on July 31, 2026. The release date was moved back one week to ensure it didn’t come out at the same time as Holland’s film, The Odyssey, and to make sure both movies could have access to IMAX screens. This film will be included as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
