Following a wave of acquisitions among large gaming companies, Ubisoft has been exploring new opportunities throughout 2025. Just after the announcement that EA is now privately owned following its acquisition, Ubisoft and Tencent have officially revealed the creation of a new studio called Vantage Studios.
Vantage Studios is a new company jointly owned by Ubisoft and Tencent. Tencent owns 25% of the studio, and Ubisoft executives Chrisophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot will lead it. The studio brings together several Ubisoft teams from locations including Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia, resulting in a workforce of 2,300 employees.
Fans of Ubisoft games will be particularly excited to learn that this new studio will be taking the lead on the company’s most popular franchises. Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six will all now be developed by the teams at Vantage. According to Ubisoft, this change is designed to give development teams more creative freedom and allow the company to operate with less central control over these well-known IPs.
It’s going to take some time to understand the results of this new development method, but we’re optimistic it will work out well. This hope is supported by the fact that Tencent invested 1.16 billion Euros in this new venture earlier this year. We’ll have to wait and see, but the initial signs are promising and the investment is significant.
