Ah, the sorrows of office, where a man’s fate hangs on the whims of twins and a president’s nod-President Donald Trump, in a fit of apparent contrition, has withdrawn his nomination of poor Brian Quintenz for the loftily named Chairman of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, that bastion of regulatory tedium. 😏
And what spurs this dramatic reversal? Why, a petty squabble with the Winklevoss brothers, those crypto-crowned siblings who, like some ancient Greek chorus, back our dear leader. One can’t help but chuckle at the absurdity: influencers dethroning nominees, as if politics weren’t farce enough. Sarcasm aside, whispers abound that these twins tugged the strings. 🤷♂️
The Eight-Month Odyssey of a Forgotten Man
As Politico breathlessly reported on October 1, Trump’s nominee, selected back in the foggy February, is now relegated to the shadows. Such is life-withdrawals happen, like unrequited love in a Chekhov tale, slow and inevitable. 🙄
The Senate Agriculture Committee, in their wisdom, scrubbed two confirmation votes in July, murmuring about conflicts. Ah, yes, Quintenz’s tie to Kalshi, that prediction parlor, where visions of futures dance. For aren’t we all predicting life’s little embarrassments?
The Winklevoss Brood and Their Legal Follies
But lo, in September, our hero Quintenz spills the beans on X (formerly Twitter, lest we forget the march of absolution), naming the twins as obstructors and unveiling their clandestine messages. One marvels at these private missives, exposed like a comedy of errors. 💥
I’ve never been inclined to release private messages. But in light of my support for the President and belief that he might have been misled, I’ve posted here the messages that include the questions Tyler Winklevoss asked me pertaining to their prior litigation with the CFTC.
I…

In these epistles, the brothers inquire about a 2022 CFTC lawsuit against Gemini, their digital den of iniquity, accusing it of fibbing to regulators over a Bitcoin wager. Quintenz, ever the neutral soul, responds with equanimity. Yet, his posts imply he was sacked for balking at their demands to hush the suit-oh, the irony of those calling it “legal harassment (lawfare trophy hunting)”! As if lawsuits weren’t the needlepoint of manhood. 😂
Human nature, dear reader: ambition clashing with ego, leaving us all in a pool of absurdity.
