October offers a wide variety of entertainment, including returning shows, exciting new series, and classic spooky-season favorites. Whether you enjoy cartoons, anime, Korean dramas, or college football, there’s something for everyone this month – from children to adults.
Here’s a quick guide to each movie and show, with details on the plot, cast, and crew. We’ve also included the release date for each title this month, so you can easily plan what to watch.
‘Superkitties’ (2023– )
As a total animation fan, I’ve been really enjoying this adorable superhero show for preschoolers! It’s called *SuperKitties* and it’s created by Paula Rosenthal. It follows four cute kitty heroes – Ginny, Buddy, Sparks, and Bitsy – as they work together to save their town, Kittydale. They use cool gadgets and, honestly, a lot of clever thinking! I’ve heard Emma Berman, Pyper Braun, and Cruz Flateau are among the voice actors, and Sony Pictures Television – Kids is producing it. If you’re looking for something new, fresh episodes drop every Wednesday, starting October 1st!
Created for Disney Junior, each episode features 11-minute adventures combined into 30-minute shows. Over time, the series has grown, introducing new villains and using music specifically designed to help young children learn. Its popularity with families has led to renewals through 2025.
‘Tempest’ (2025– )
This thrilling Korean drama follows Mun-ju, a former UN ambassador, and San-ho, a secret agent. Their investigation into a dangerous attack reveals a growing conspiracy threatening the Korean Peninsula. Starring Jun Ji-hyun and Gang Dong-won, with appearances by John Cho, Lee Mi-sook, Park Hae-joon, Kim Hae-sook, Yoo Jae-myung, and Oh Jung-se, the series is written by Jeong Seo-kyeong and directed by Kim Hee-won, with action sequences directed by Heo Myung-haeng. New episodes are released every Wednesday, starting October 1st.
The K-drama ‘Tempest’ boasts a talented creative team, including composers Jung Jae-il and Dalpalan, and cinematographer Lee Mo-gae. Production was handled by Imaginus, Showrunners, Studio AA, and Seoul Action School. This series is part of Disney’s growing collection of K-dramas available worldwide.
‘Kiff’ (2023– )
‘Kiff’ is a funny animated series created by Lucy Heavens and Nic Smal. It’s about Kiff, a super-positive squirrel, and Barry, a laid-back bunny, and their adventures in the chaotic town of Table Town. Kimiko Glenn and H. Michael Croner provide the voices, with music by Brad Breeck. The show is a production of Disney Television Animation and Titmouse, and new episodes will premiere on Saturday, October 4th.
This show combines music with everyday stories and has run for several seasons, with Heavens and Smal overseeing production. Its bright, energetic look and quick humor are inspired by Cape Town and the dynamic animation style of Titmouse.
‘Halloween Wars’ (2011– )
Each season, talented pumpkin carvers, cake artists, and sugar sculptors compete on this Food Network show to create amazing, Halloween-themed displays. Teams work against the clock to build large-scale creations that tell a story. Jonathan Bennett hosts, and Shinmin Li and Aarti Sequeira are the judges. The new season begins Saturday, October 4th.
Each episode usually has two parts, ending with a spooky and delicious creation called a “Spine Chiller” that the judges taste. The winner of the season receives a $25,000 prize. Throughout the series, well-known figures from the horror and special effects industries have served as guest judges, and the show has been updated occasionally to keep things exciting and the challenges innovative.
‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ (2024– )
Years after the original series, the new show follows Justin Russo as he balances family life in Staten Island and mentors Billie, a young wizard sent to him by his sister, Alex. The cast includes Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie, Alkaio Thiele as Roman, Max Matenko as Milo, Taylor Cora as Winter, Mimi Gianopulos as Giada, and David Henrie reprising his role as Justin. The next episode airs on Wednesday, October 8th.
The series was created by Todd J. Greenwald and developed by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. Selena Gomez and David Henrie are among its executive producers. Filmed using a multi-camera setup and featuring music by composer Zack Ryan, the show continues the story of the Russo family, bringing back familiar faces from the original series.
‘Halloween Baking Championship’ (2015– )
The popular Food Network competition is back! Host John Henson and judges Carla Hall, Zac Young, and Stephanie Boswell will be tasting creepy and creative desserts made by professional bakers, all competing for a $25,000 prize. The new season premieres Saturday, October 11th.
Each episode of the series usually features two challenges: a first round called “Preliminary Heat” and a final round called “Main Heat.” These challenges often revolve around spooky themes like haunted houses, monsters, and classic horror elements. More recently, the show has also included intense elimination rounds for the bakers with the lowest scores. Throughout its run, the show has changed its format somewhat, but always keeps the focus on impressive baking skills.
‘Vampirina: Teenage Vampire’ (2025– )
‘Vampirina’ is back with a new live-action series! It follows teenage Vee Hauntley as she starts at a performing arts boarding school, keeping her vampire secret under wraps. Kenzi Richardson stars as Vee, and the show also features Jiwon Lee, Shaun Dixon, Milo Maharlika, and Faith Hedley. Mark your calendars – the premiere is on Wednesday, October 15th!
The show, created by Randi Barnes, is now led by Dan Cross and David Hoge, who are also executive producers along with Tim Federle. It features original music, including the debut single “S-L-A-Y,” released with the first episode, and is designed for tween and family viewers.
‘Star Wars: Visions’ (2021– )
Lucasfilm’s popular ‘Visions’ series asks animation studios globally to create unique stories within the Star Wars universe. The series has already featured well-known actors like Simu Liu, Steve Buscemi, Jodie Turner-Smith, Harvey Guillén, and George Takei. New episodes will be released on Wednesday, October 29th.
Each animated short offers a unique artistic approach, using techniques like classic 2D animation, stop-motion, and computer-generated imagery. Studios were encouraged to experiment with different moods, soundtracks, and visual designs. This ongoing collaboration with creators from around the world helps expand the ‘Star Wars’ universe beyond its main stories.
‘Disney Twisted Wonderland: The Animation’ (2025– )
This anime is based on the popular mobile game by Yana Toboso. It centers around a student who attends Night Raven College, a school where each dorm is themed after a different Disney villain. The voice actors from the game – including Natsuki Hanae, Seiichiro Yamashita, Chiaki Kobayashi, and Ryota Suzuki – return for the anime. It will premiere on Wednesday, October 29th.
The production stays true to the core vision of the game, featuring an original story and character designs by Yana Toboso, a soundtrack by Takumi Ozawa, and animation consistent with the style of ‘Twisted-Wonderland.’ Throughout 2025, the cast grew to include more characters from dorms like Octavinelle, Scarabia, and Pomefiore.
