The latest NikeCraft release, the Mars Yard 3.0 by Tom Sachs, was highly anticipated and launched with a unique system. An app called I.S.R.U. allowed users to earn points through daily challenges, with the highest scorers getting first access to purchase the shoes. Now, for those who participated but didn’t get a pair of the Mars Yard 3.0s, Tom Sachs has announced a new shoe as a reward: the NikeCraft General Purpose Participation Shoe.
The General Purpose Shoe, first released in 2022, was intentionally designed to be simple and durable for everyday wear. After several color variations were released in 2023, Nike stopped working with the shoe’s designer due to serious accusations about his conduct. Now, it appears the shoe is making a comeback with a special edition inspired by ISRU (In-Situ Resource Utilization). A sneak peek shows the new version will have a vintage off-white look with ISRU branding on the side, tongue, and heel.
People who qualified will soon be able to pre-order the Tom Sachs x NikeCraft General Purpose Participation Shoe. The price is $110 USD, and the pre-order window closes on October 3rd. Shipping is expected to begin in the summer of 2026. If you previously purchased the NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0, you won’t be eligible to buy this new shoe.
