Tyr for PVE

I’m really excited about Tyr! She’s a new Wind character who focuses on hitting enemies with one really powerful attack. Her attack stats are pretty good – she has 396 base ATK and 50% crit damage. It’s almost as good as Nebris, who also has 396 ATK but a slightly higher 75% crit damage. Still, Tyr looks like she’ll pack a serious punch!

Generally, a +5 upgraded costume should provide around 700% damage. For instance, DJ Venaka and Last Hope Loen both deal 700% and 750% damage, respectively, when fully upgraded to +5.

Dealing around 1000% damage is generally considered excellent, though powerful costumes often have trade-offs. For instance, QOS Michaela deals 1,170% damage with a chain effect, but it consumes your SP. Similarly, Sacred Justia can inflict up to 1,300% damage, but only when facing multiple enemies.

Tyr stands out with a massive 1,400% damage output, making her the most powerful character in the game when it comes to raw damage. The only catch is that using her special attack costs 2 more SP each time after the initial use. While this cost is usually manageable with good planning, in battles where SP is limited, you might need to adjust your team to ensure you have enough energy to use her.

When fighting bosses with multiple health bars, Seir is a helpful ally for Tyr. Her New Hire and B-Rank Idol costumes let her boost damage output and quickly restore SP for the team.

Refithea is also helpful for controlling skill point (SP) usage, especially when equipped with her Gluttonous or Poolside Fairy outfits. However, her ability to boost chain combos isn’t very effective with Tyr, since he primarily uses single attacks.

Tyr’s powerful attacks make her a strong choice for all player-versus-environment content, like the Tower of Pride (Wind Level), Tower of Salvation, and completing the Last Night challenge.

Is Tyr better than Nebris?

Everyone is wondering how this new character stacks up against Nebris, our top pick for physical wind damage. They’re both contenders for the title of best in that category.

Currently, Nebris is the stronger choice because it has a complete costume set and can use skills each turn. But once Tyr gets its second costume, both characters should be useful in different situations, depending on the opponent.

Nebris excels at dealing damage with her skill, New Hire Nebris, which becomes significantly stronger with each buff applied – potentially reaching 1,320% or more damage when fully buffed. Her costumes further boost her damage by providing self-buffs to her attack and critical hit damage. Combined with slightly higher base offensive stats, Nebris generally achieves a higher maximum damage output compared to Starlight Guardian Tyr.

One downside to using Nebris is its powerful attack has a longer cooldown – it can only be used every third turn. In comparison, Starlight Guardian Tyr’s similar attack is available more frequently, with a cooldown of just three turns.

Nebris and Tyr have different attack patterns. Nebris attacks in a straight, 6-tile line, while Tyr’s attack spreads out in a 9-tile cone. This means Tyr is better at hitting enemies with weak spots that are far away or behind them, but Nebris is better at hitting weak spots that are directly in front of the enemy.

In summary:

Nebris Tyr
– Lower cost, better for low SP regen battles
– Higher max damage (for now)
– Better range for hitting weak points in the front
– Lower cooldown on her big attack
– Better range for hitting weak points in the back
– Doesn’t take as long as Nebris to set up (Starlight Guardian can be used on Turn 1)

Tyr for PVP

Tyr isn’t quite ready for player-versus-player battles because she needs another outfit. However, her Starlight Guardian version performs similarly to Empress of the Ocean Rubia in terms of attack range and skill point cost. When paired with a Dark Saintess Liberta in a defensive team, Tyr is very powerful and can often inflict significant damage. That said, Tyr struggles against enemies who can evade attacks, unlike Empress Rubia, and doesn’t offer much of an advantage on subsequent turns.

Conclusion

Tyr boasts the highest base damage skill in the game, hitting for a massive 1,400% of her attack power in a large area when fully upgraded. However, like many powerful costumes, she has a trade-off: using her special skill increases the SP cost of all her other skills by 2 for 6 turns.

Even without any potential (+0), Tyr deals a very high amount of damage – 700%, which is comparable to costumes upgraded to +5. To use her effectively, you’ll need at least a +1 costume level and the SP cost reduction upgrade. Getting as many costume levels as possible is ideal, as this significantly increases her damage output.

With a new character on the way, we’ll probably see more outfits for Tyr, making him a good investment for the future. Just a heads-up: your Nebris might not be thrilled if you swap her out on your wind-based physical damage team!
