Sony released the first official trailer for *Marvel’s Wolverine* during its September 2025 State of Play event, and it looks as intense and action-packed as fans were expecting.
The highly anticipated game is being created by Insomniac Games, the developers of the popular Marvel’s Spider-Man series, and is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 in Fall 2026.
A Darker Take on Logan
Compared to the more lighthearted Spider-Man games from Insomniac, the upcoming Wolverine game is much darker and more violent. It’s rated M for Mature and features brutal combat with bloody claw attacks, dismemberment, and Logan’s intense rage. The trailer reveals key villains like Omega Red and Mystique, and a giant Sentinel designed to hunt mutants, suggesting this game will be a large-scale conflict between mutants.
The game centers around Logan’s desperate quest to uncover the truth about his mysterious history. Driven by a troubled past but refusing to give up, Wolverine battles groups like the Reavers, showcasing the raw power that earned him the title of “living weapon.”
Voice and Performance
Actor Liam McIntyre (best known as JD Fenix from Gears of War 4) brings Logan to life.
Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine, as seen through McIntyre’s work, captures both the character’s intense anger and his hidden sensitivity, making him feel more real. The game developers at Insomniac explain that this version of Wolverine explores the internal conflict of a hero who’s trying to reconcile his human side with his brutal instincts.
Global Settings and Brutal Encounters
The trailer hints at an adventure that takes place all over the world, featuring action scenes in the forests of Canada, the dangerous streets of Tokyo, and the troubled island country of Madripoor.
Every location will force Wolverine into brutal fights, combining hidden attacks, his claws, and raw strength.
Built for PlayStation 5
Similar to Insomniac’s *Spider-Man* games, *Wolverine* is being created specifically for the PlayStation 5. It will feature fast-paced, smooth fighting, impressive in-game moments, and a wide range of accessibility options for all players. The game’s cover art was also shown, hinting at a more serious and gritty atmosphere.
Insomniac has promised to reveal more in Spring 2026, but the recent trailer already makes the *Wolverine* game one of the most eagerly awaited PlayStation exclusives so far.
