‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ to Rejoin the MCU in Upcoming Disney+ Series

There’s a possibility that Marvel’s *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.* will rejoin the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe with a new series on Disney+.

I just heard from Alex Perez in a recent Q&A that the new show will somehow tie into *VISION QUEST*, that miniseries all about the Vision character. I’m really excited to see how they connect the two!

Vision Quest is a new series connected to the 2021 hit, WandaVision, and will be the 18th Marvel Studios television project as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Terry Matalas is creating and leading the new series as both showrunner and director. The show will pick up the story of Vision, a character fans first met in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

Paul Bettany is returning as Vision for the upcoming project. He’ll be joined by James Spader, Todd Stashwick, Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, and Orla Brady. Originally announced in 2022 with Jac Schaeffer as the lead writer, the show underwent changes, and by 2024, Matalas was leading the creative development, with Bettany’s return officially confirmed.

Filming for the series started in March at Pinewood Studios in London and wrapped up in late July. Several directors oversaw individual episodes, including Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, and Matalas. Viewers can also expect to see other AI characters, some of whom have already appeared in Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.

The new series, *VISION QUEST*, is coming to Disney+ in 2026. It will have eight episodes and is planned as part of the sixth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
