1. ‘The Morning Show’ (2019– )
I’m completely hooked on ‘The Morning Show’! It’s a fascinating look behind the scenes of a major American morning news program, focusing on the lives of the anchors, producers, and the people running the show. Jennifer Aniston is incredible as Alex Levy, and I love watching Reese Witherspoon’s character, Bradley Jackson, grow as an anchor. Billy Crudup is brilliant as the network executive, Cory Ellison, and the supporting cast – Mark Duplass, Karen Pittman, and Greta Lee – are all fantastic too. It really dives into the complicated relationships at work, how the network makes its decisions, and the intense pressure of putting a show together live, especially when big news is breaking. It’s so compelling to watch how everyone deals with both national events and the shifting power dynamics within the show itself.
The series was created by Kerry Ehrin, based on an idea from Jay Carson. Media Res and Hello Sunshine produce it. Mimi Leder directed several episodes and also served as an executive producer, and Charlotte Stoudt later took charge as showrunner. The show’s cast and creative team have received numerous awards for their performances, writing, and direction.
