The Elena Velez Anti-Hero Goes Out West for Spring 2026

Elena Velez designs each new collection as a continuation of her brand’s story. Her Fall 2026 collection evoked her nautical background with a presentation at ARTECHOUSE. Now, with YR007, her Spring 2026 line, Velez introduces a new direction for her central design inspiration.

Velez has reimagined New York City’s famous Cabaret Club, The Box, as the setting for her new BAD LANDS collection. This season, she presents a striking line of women’s wear inspired by folklore and the Wild West. The collection’s central figure, the Velez ‘antihero,’ embodies a gritty, yet expansive exploration of the American Dream, channeling the style of the Great Depression era and venturing into a bold new creative territory for the brand.

According to the show’s description, Velez portrays the collection as capturing the feeling of being disconnected during the Dust Bowl era, offering a sort of fantastical escape through the stories of travelers, artists, those seeking fortune, and unconventional spiritual seekers.

As a huge fan of BADLAND, I’ve always loved how it blends this really bleak, almost hopeless vibe with a longing for what once was, all set against this raw, natural backdrop. And the new season? It’s digging even deeper into those ideas! It feels like they’re really looking at what people were arguing about *before* everything fell apart – things like society breaking down, whether it’s better to look out for yourself or work together, and whether the whole ‘American Dream’ thing was ever really attainable. It’s seriously thought-provoking stuff!
