Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 update 10.2 patch notes: Less Chaos Spawn spam

The September 19, 2025, update 10.2 for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive, this patch includes minor balance tweaks and bug fixes, with a few key changes worth noting.

We’ve adjusted the Heroic Chainsword to improve its balance, including changes to its core stats and how its Light-Heavy-Heavy attack combo works. Sniper players will find that activating their camouflage cloak now requires a different amount of energy. In PvE game modes, Chaos Spawn will appear less often, making them as rare as Tyranid Warriors.

Balancing

Heroic Chainsword:

  • Rebalanced base stats.
  • Reworked its perk: Light->Heavy->Heavy combo now ends with a Stomp attack.
  • All Heavy attacks damage increased by 15%.

Camo Cloak’s activation cost:

The activation cost of the Sniper ability has been changed. Now it works this way: 

  • The first three uses of Camo Cloak in a row do not take away energy by themselves (the ability consumes energy, as before). The fourth activation takes away 5% of energy instantly, each subsequent one takes away a little more. After the last use, there is a 10-second timer, after which the activation cost again becomes zero.

The developers explained on Steam that while the ‘cloak cancel’ technique will still be useful and satisfying to master, a recent change prevents players from repeatedly using it to stay hidden and avoid damage indefinitely. With a good setup, players can still perform 5-6 cloak cancels in a row.

Spawn Director:

  • The number of Chaos Spawns in packs is slightly reduced and now matches Tyranid Warriors.

Fixes

Stratagems:

  • Fixed an issue where Daily Stratagems could have more Battlefield Conditions than listed.

General:

  • Fixed damage for the Power Backstep attack when the Power Wave perk is selected for Power Axe.
  • Improved flame weapons VFX visibility for allies.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented bots from entering elevators in Exfiltration operation.
  • Fixed perks dealing friendly fire damage.
  • Fixed PvP connectivity issues.
  • Minor localization fixes
  • Minor UI fixes
  • ESRB update pop-up: A pop-up will appear on the main menu to inform you of an update of the ESRB rating. This pop-up will only appear once.
