After a developer suggested that the next Battlefield game would only allow crossplay between consoles, EA has confirmed this isn’t true. If you turn on crossplay in the game, you’ll be matched with players on all platforms, including PCs.
The game is set up to connect PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players with others on the same consoles first, before adding PC players to matches. This means if enough console players are looking for a game at the same time as you, you’ll likely be placed in a lobby with just console users.
On PC, crossplay is always enabled and can’t be turned off. If you disable crossplay on consoles like PlayStation or Xbox, you’ll only be able to play with other people using the same console. This means you won’t be able to play with friends who are on different consoles or on PC.
Console players have been asking for the ability to separate themselves from PC players. Cheating is a bigger problem on PC, and many console players feel it gives PC users an unfair advantage. Additionally, the different control schemes – keyboard and mouse on PC versus controllers on consoles – creates an imbalance that some players find frustrating.
