New Disney+ MCU Show Renewed for Season 2

A new animated series, Marvel Zombies, is coming to Disney+. Created by Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells, the show is inspired by the well-known Marvel Comics series of the same name.

This new series is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be created by Marvel Studios Animation. It continues the story from the popular “What If… Zombies?!” episode of the animated show *What If…?* (2021-2024), focusing on a group of people struggling to survive and defeat superpowered zombies to save the world. Bryan Andrews is leading the show as both showrunner and director, with Beau Wells as head writer.

The show brings back a lot of familiar faces from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Returning stars include Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Hailee Steinfeld, Tessa Thompson, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani, with Todd Williams also joining the cast.

By June 2021, Marvel Studios was developing a number of animated shows, including this series inspired by the “What If… Zombies?!” episode. It was officially revealed in November 2021.

The new animated series will look similar to *What If…?*, as the same team from Stellar Creative Lab is handling the animation. Notably, *Marvel Zombies* will be the first animated series from Marvel Studios to carry a mature rating (TV-MA).

The new series will debut on Disney+ on September 24th with four episodes, and it’s planned as part of the sixth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum and Bryan Andrews recently told ComicBook that they already have plans for a potential second season of their show. Winderbaum urged viewers to watch the first season, saying, “People really need to subscribe to Disney+ and watch-if they do, we’ll be able to make more, and we’re prepared to do so!”

It began with a single bite, and now a terrifying battle unfolds! Don’t miss #MarvelZombies, a four-part animated event premiering September 24th, exclusively on Disney+.
