The upcoming animated film takes its name from the popular video game Super Mario Galaxy by Nintendo, released in 2007. During the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, a teaser for the sequel was unveiled and is scheduled to premiere soon. In the sneak peek, Mario was depicted taking a nap under a tree, with Princess Peach’s castle visible in the distance.
The crowd got a peek at Monty Mole digging underground, Cheep Cheeps swimming in a nearby brook, and Toads leaping around the castle. In the upcoming movie, Chris Pratt and Anya Taylor-Joy will be teamed up with Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson. Each of these actors will provide the voices for their characters in the latest production.
In terms of the initial film from the series, “The Super Mario Bros.” movie was a massive success at theaters, raking in approximately $1.36 billion globally. It’s now regarded as one of the highest-grossing video game adaptations ever made. Currently, it holds the fifth spot in box office earnings, trailing behind Ne Zha 2, Inside Out 2, The Lion King, and Frozen 2.
The Super Mario Galaxy is scheduled to release in theaters on April 3, 2026.
