Apple TV+ Renews The Foundation for Season Four

Apple TV+ has confirmed that The Foundation will return for a fourth season.

The news arrives just before the third season finale airs today, on September 12, 2025. Filming for season four is set to commence around early 2026.

Showrunners and Creative Team

The co-showrunners, Ian Goldberg and David Kob, expressed excitement about continuing to unfold the narrative of Isaac Asimov’s renowned saga.

Season Three Overview

In the third season, The Foundation extended its influence, whereas the Cleonic Dynasty began to falter. A new menace emerged in the form of a warlord named The Mule, who employs both raw power and manipulation in an effort to control the entire cosmos.

For season three, we have some familiar faces returning such as Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell, Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, and Rowena King. Joining the roster for the first time are Cherry Jones, Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tómas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, Troy Kotsur, and Pilou Asbæk.

In the final act, named “The Darkness“, Gaal and the Second Foundation initiate a confrontation with the Mule, while the Empire stands on the brink of collapse.
