+ A new staple for dark teams
+ Better vulnerability than GC.Rafina and TF.Levia, with no cooldown gap
+ Good offensive stats
As a gaming character, I’m excitedly anticipating that my power-up is just around the corner! New costume releases are on the horizon, and I can hardly wait to see what enhancements they’ll bring to my gameplay. So, keep your eyes peeled for these upcoming updates – I’m confident they will help me become an even stronger force in the gaming world!
- AOE is smaller than GC.Rafina and TF.Levia
- Works best in a high chain dark team, but Sonya herself is not good for stacking chains
As a dedicated fan, I must invest significantly to amplify the effectiveness of my vulnerability debuffs. A jump of 4 levels is necessary to achieve the maximum potential for these debuffs.
- Currently has no other costumes, so (for now) she is on cooldown every second turn
Sonya’s stats
Sonya boasts impressive offensive abilities, with a baseline M.ATK of 407, one of the highest in the game. In contrast, Levia’s baseline M.ATK is 396, while Schera and Venaka have 385 and 363 respectively.
From a different perspective, her fundamental HP stands at 1449, and she lacks both basic defensive abilities and magical resistance, positioning her as one of the more fragile 5-star characters, with exceptions such as Blade.

Sonya for PVE
Sonya, a fresh and adaptable character, is anticipated to be a widely chosen option for end-game PVE activities. Her unique ability enables her to apply either of two boosts, contingent upon the number of links amassed prior to an attack, when fully optimized at +5 potential level.
- If there are 4 or less chains on the enemy before Sonya attacks, then Sonya applies a 125% vulnerability for all elements.
- If there are 5 or more chains on the enemy before Sonya attacks (i.e. Sonya makes chain 6 or higher), then Sonya applies a 175% vulnerability for dark element only.
Dark mode off: Attacking with 4 or less chains
In a non-dark team, it’s quite straightforward to activate Sonya’s initial debuff (attack with 4 or less chains), as all you need to do is attack with Sonya first.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that GC.Rafina and TF.Levia are two highly sought-after costumes in fiend hunts and guild raids. The former, GC.Rafina, offers an astounding 100% physical attack vulnerability for the next four turns, with a cool down of five turns, affecting a wide area of 3×3 squares. Similarly, TF.Levia grants a 100% (boosting to 120% on the main target) magical attack vulnerability over the same duration and cooldown within the same sized AOE.
In simpler terms, Sonya outshines others by offering a 125% boost in vulnerability without any cooldown delay, making her versatile for both physical and magical teams. However, she has a slightly smaller area of effect (AOE), so Rafina and Levia may still be preferred when a larger AOE is crucial. But in situations where a larger AOE isn’t essential, Sonya is an undeniably improved addition to your team.
As a gamer, I can vouch that Sonya is an exceptional choice for teams with fewer hits, particularly when paired with Beach Angel Teresse. Unlike GC.Rafina, who can stack up to 3 chains, and TF.Levia with her 4 chains, Sonya’s single hit skill only builds one chain. This gives my main attacker more opportunities to deal damage before hitting the crucial 5-chain threshold.
Dark mode on: Attacking with 5 or more chains
When using Sonya, it’s best not to be the first one to attack if there are already five or more chain effects in place. Instead, consider having Celia or Luvencia attack first, as they are both area of effect dark attackers with high chain counts. Avoid using Sonya initially in a dark team; instead, let either Celia or Luvencia attack first.
PVE game modest
Sonya shines particularly well in pursuits of fiends and guild battles, especially when the opponent is a light type and possesses vulnerable spots that align with her area-of-effect (AOE) cross shape.
Sonya inflicts significant damage on her own, as her debilitating effects are applied prior to attacking. This feature makes her an excellent choice in the majority of PVE fights. It’s unfortunate that there isn’t a Tower of Pride level for dark characters, which would have made Sonya ideal.
Sonya for PVP
As a gamer, I’ve found that Sonya isn’t ideal for Player vs Player (PVP) battles. She’s quite pricey, making her less appealing for attack teams when it comes to the 3 SP requirement. Plus, on defense teams, she seems a bit too fragile for my liking.
Sonya shares similar stat attributes with Roxy, both having significantly low HP, no natural defensive or magical resistance bonuses. Characters like these, often referred to as glass cannons, can prove beneficial in defense teams due to their potential for a significant impact (such as Venaka). However, Sonya falls short in this regard compared to defense team picks. Although she possesses high damage output, generally speaking, Lovely Lady Elise would be a more advantageous choice on defense teams because of her ability to reduce defensive and magical resistance values, coupled with her more robust stats.
Sonya’s exclusive accessory

Sonya’s unique weapon, much like other premium equipment, offers an additional statistical advantage that’s appealing. However, the impact outside of high-level competitive play isn’t significant. Given its luxury status, it’s advisable to consider acquiring it as more of a treat rather than a necessity. Unless you’re a frequent spender, it might be wiser to save your tickets for other in-game items.
Please take note that the stats for all accessory equipment have undergone an update, allowing you to now obtain stats like Critical Damage (similar to Venomous Touch).
Conclusion
Summer fun’s over, and now we’re back to the serious side of things with Shadowed Dream Sonya.
Here’s a simpler way to explain it:
Sonya’s abilities might seem complex, but they’re actually quite straightforward. To reduce an enemy’s resistance to all types of damage by 125%, start with Sonya in any situation where “dark mode” is off. On the other hand, if “dark mode” is on and at least 5 chain reactions have been built up, attacking with Sonya will increase the enemy’s vulnerability to dark damage by 175%.
Sonya proves to be an exceptional choice for both novice and experienced gamers. Newcomers can find Sonya as an excellent replacement for GC.Rafina and TF.Levia, boasting stronger buff capabilities and faster cooldown rates within a smaller area of effect. She also delivers decent damage, with her vulnerability effect applied to each attack. For seasoned players, Sonya has become a crucial component for dark teams in all high-level content, and is likely to see significant usage even outside of dark teams due to her vulnerability debuff.
To see notable improvement in her abilities, a substantial investment is advisable as her debuff power is relatively modest at its base level (+0), but becomes significantly stronger at +2 and +4 levels. Despite the initial investment, it’s likely to be rewarding since the developers tend not to introduce new non-collaboration characters with limited costumes and long cooldown periods. Precedent suggests that characters with a cooldown period, such as Olivier, Blade, and Luvencia, have received additional costumes swiftly, so it’s likely we will see more costumes for Sonya soon.
