
The trailer for “Swiped” has been released, featuring Lily James portraying Whitney Wolfe Herd, the woman who revolutionized the online dating industry by creating Bumble – a globally renowned app. The film narrates her inspiring journey and the impact she made on the world of digital dating.
The film, written along with Rachel Lee Goldenberg and directed by her, is a biographical drama produced by 20th Century Studios. It had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, and it’s scheduled for release in the US on September 19. Following its theater debut, the film will be available to stream on Hulu.

The narrative charts Wolfe Herd’s transition from university life to the dynamic realm of technology startups. It delves into her initial engagements with Tinder, battles faced in an industry dominated by men, and ultimately, the establishment of Bumble – a platform that empowers women by offering them greater control over their online dating interactions.
The movie additionally delves into Bumble’s ascension as a worldwide phenomenon and Wolf Herd’s notable achievement of being the youngest self-made female billionaire upon the company’s initial public offering in 2021.
In the main character, we have Lily James, while Dan Stevens, Myha’la, Jackson White, among others, take on supporting roles. Filming for this project started in Los Angeles during May 2024 and concluded by July. Doug Emmett handled the visuals as cinematographer, Julia Wong did the editing, and Chanda Dancy was responsible for composing the music score.
In early 2024, it was initially announced that Goldenberg would direct the project, with James securing the lead role. Over the following months, additional cast members were revealed, gradually forming the movie’s lineup.
The teaser for Swipe showcases Wolfe Herd’s persistence in crafting a unique alternative within the realm of dating apps. It depicts the hurdles she overcame, the daring moves she made, and the ongoing struggle between Bumble and Tinder.
