Paradox has revealed that the expansion for Stellaris, titled “Shadows of the Shroud,” is set to launch on September 22, 2025, exclusively for PC. Developed in collaboration with Abrakam, a studio based in Belgium, this expansion will be priced at $19.99 USD and significantly overhaul the Psionic Ascension Path.
As I delve deeper into this DLC, the world seems to be growing increasingly Eldritch. I’m now capable of piercing the enigmatic veil known as the Shroud. The choices I make during this challenging journey will determine which cosmic entities, or Patrons, my species aligns with within the Shroud. And yes, I should warn you, there are secrets hidden inside that veil. As I grow more attuned to my chosen Patron, I’ll reap even greater rewards from their power.

The advantages and their unexpected outcomes will naturally emerge from the core of your empire, shaping it accordingly, and this applies to both your friendly and unfriendly neighbors. This is essentially cultivating influence on a cosmic scale, which only the Mindwarden Enclave can contain, preventing these psionic fields from expanding any further.

In addition to the Shadows of the Shroud, the ongoing storyline “End of the Cycle” introduced through the Utopia DLC will be further developed. Rest assured, having Utopia is not a requirement to enjoy this new feature. Instead, purchasing Shadows of the Shroud will provide direct access to it and offer additional content related to it.
As an avid player, I’m thrilled about the upcoming DLC! Not only does it bring fresh and extended gameplay mechanics, but it also introduces brand-new Origin stories, civic options, governments, events, character portraits, and ship designs to enrich my gaming experience!
