Rubia for PVE

Damage analysis

Housekeeper Rubia introduces an unprecedented form of debilitation: Damage-Over-Time (DOT) susceptibility. This increases the potency of all ongoing damage effects like Burn, Poison, and so forth. As a “susceptibility” type debilitation, it accumulates with other amplification/susceptibility debuffs by adding to their effects, rather than multiplying them.

The magnitude of the DOT vulnerability is significantly larger than that of other known vulnerabilities. Most previous vulnerabilities have impacted systems between approximately 100% and 150%, as seen in cases like Track and Field Levia, Wind Dancer Venaka, Robin Hood Zenith, etc. However, Maid Rubia introduces a vulnerability level that is triple the norm, at an astonishing 300%.

When Maid Bikini is at her maximum potential (+5), she delivers 150% of her base damage and 450% burn damage each turn for two turns, equating to a total of 1050% damage. However, after considering the DOT amplification, her actual damage output becomes 150% base plus 1800% burn damage per turn for two turns, totaling an impressive 3750% damage. Keep in mind that this damage can decrease if other amplifications or vulnerabilities are applied (for more information on buff stacking, refer to the FAQs).

For novice players: In Brown Dust 2, each player action and enemy action are considered separate moves. The damage caused by burn effects, such as Maid Bikini’s, applies during both your turns and the enemies’. Consequently, the entirety of Maid Bikini’s burn damage is inflicted before the start of your following turn.

Rubia’s standard outfit, known as Thorn of the Desert Rubia, comes with a strong Damage Over Time (DOT) effect. This works particularly well with Maid Bikini Rubia. When Thorn of the Desert Rubia is at its maximum potential (+5), it typically inflicts 340% burn damage per turn for 7 turns. With the DOT boost from Maid Bikini, this now escalates to a whopping 1,360% burn damage per turn. Keep in mind, this is an extremely high level of damage.

Using Rubia in PVE

Previously, Rubia wasn’t commonly utilized in late-game PVE scenarios due to lacking a distinct role or edge over other fire element attackers. In simpler terms, she wasn’t known for dealing the highest damage or having the best area of effect (AOE), and her costumes also didn’t have a cohesive theme.

With her new Maid Bikini costume, Rubia emerges as the standout fire attacker, surpassing any other in terms of single-target damage potential. She has now carved out a distinct niche for herself, excelling as the top choice for high damage in one-on-one situations (or small V-shaped area-of-effect). On a one-to-one combat basis, Rubia’s damage output even surpasses that of fully powered Celebrity Bunny Loen.

An example turn order for using Rubia is:

Maid Name > Thorn of the Desert > Maid Bikini

Certainly, one of Rubia’s main disadvantages lies in her relatively limited Area of Effect (AOE) for inflicting Damage Over Time (DOT). In situations involving numerous tiles or multiple vulnerable spots on fiends and raid bosses within guilds, attackers with broader fire AOE capabilities like Loen might yield better results.

Synergy with other DOT attackers

Maid Bikini’s DOT vulnerability also helps other DOT attackers. Notable DOT costumes include:

Sharpshooter Gray and Vanguard Gray
White Cat Rou
Neon Savior Angelica

In the later stages of the game, it’s likely that Rubia and Liatris will team up. While Maid Bikini Rubia has restricted area coverage compared to Liatris’s AOE, their combined abilities create a powerful duo, making them highly effective when used together.

Rubia in PVP

In PvP, Rubia is a recommended choice right now due to her having two powerful outfits. The first one is called “Maid Name,” which grants an attack boost and evasion. The second one is the “Empress of the Ocean,” which features a large area-of-effect (AOE) with high chain potential and defense reduction.

An alternative costume, the Maid Bikini, may not be as effective as the other two options to start with, but it can serve well as a replacement for Thorn in later slots. Despite having a narrow area-of-effect (AOE), the damage inflicted by the Maid Bikini is substantial, significantly increasing the likelihood of dealing fatal blows.

Rubia’s exclusive weapon

Rubia’s special weapon is appealing due to its additional stats, but it doesn’t make a significant impact in everyday gameplay. It’s primarily valuable for high-level competitive play. So, if you’re a casual player or have a limited budget, it might not be worth spending tickets on this luxury item. Only serious spenders should consider investing in it.

Conclusion

Costume known as Maid Bikini significantly contributes to defining Rubia’s character. Previously, Rubia was a versatile character who excelled in multiple areas but lacked a distinct role compared to other fire attackers. However, with her impressive 300% damage over time (DOT) vulnerability debuff, Rubia has become the most potent single-target and small area of effect (AOE) fire attacker by a significant margin.

In simpler terms, disregarding the influence of buff stacking, Maid Rubia’s DOT vulnerability enables her to inflict a 1,800% increase in burn damage for two consecutive turns, and also amplifies base Rubia’s burn damage to a 1,360% burn damage per turn for a duration of seven turns.
