HoYoverse unveils the beginning of a new chapter for Genshin Impact with version 6.0, titled “A Dance of Snowy Tides and Hoarfrost Groves”. This marks the commencement of the “Song of the Welkin Moon” cycle, set in the newly introduced region called Nod-Krai.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel exhilarated about the upcoming Version 6.0, now known as Luna I! This latest update is brimming with novelty, introducing fresh faces like Lauma, Flins, and Aino, expanding the map, and continuing the captivating storyline. What sets this version apart is its unique mechanics that distinguish it from previous updates. Moreover, HoYoverse is planning a grand celebration for Genshin Impact’s fifth anniversary during this update, offering players a free 5-Star character selector and a feature that enables us to unlock up to four 5-Star characters for free each year!

Genshin Impact Luna I: release date & trailer

In a future date on September 10, 2025, the first expansion of the game Genshin Impact, titled Luna I, is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS devices, and Android platforms.

On that date, you’ll notice that the game Genshin Impact will no longer be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 4. This is a prelude to the phase-out of support for the previous generation platform, which is expected to conclude in 2026.

Genshin Impact Luna I: story & characters

In Luna I, you’ll encounter tales about Lauma, Flins, and Aino during the Archon Quest. However, moving forward, these stories won’t follow the usual format. The developers explained that this was simply the most effective way to narrate this particular storyline.

Upon reaching Nasha Town, the Traveler finds themselves drawn into a simmering dispute among various factions, including the Fatui and Frostmoon Scions, who are all eager for dominance over the region’s ancient powers. In this new update, players can venture through places like Nasha Town, Hiisi Island, and The Cold Moonlight Isle.

In the upcoming Genshin Impact update 6.0, you’ll see Lauma, Flins, and Aino making their debut, along with reruns of Yelan and Nahida. Shortly after venturing into Nod-Krai, players will receive a complimentary version of Aino.

Genshin Impact Luna I: events & anniversary rewards

The following events will be available in Genshin Impact Luna I:

  • Clink Clank Clash – rewards include 4-Star Catalyst Etherlight Spindlelute and Primogems.
  • Lightgleaner’s Journey – rewards include Primogems.
  • Dodoco’s Blow-Up-Erative Bomb-Nanza – rewards include Primogems.
  • Overflowing Favor – double Artifact drops.

The following anniversary rewards will be available:

  • Check-in Event – rewards include ten Intertwined Fate and one Dust of Enlightenment.
  • Anniversary Mail – rewards include 1,600 Primogems and cosmetics.
  • Initial Top-Up Bonus reset
  • 5-Star character selector (standard banner); includes all materials needed to get to Level 60 immediately.

Genshin Impact Luna I: features

In the realm of Nod-Krai, the pervasive energy of Kuuvahki is what fuels the abilities of its inhabitants. This energy source substitutes for traditional visions, enabling them to perform Lunar Reactions, like the latest Lunar-Bloom Reactions. Additionally, an innovative exploration feature allows you to metamorphose into a creature resembling Seelie beings for swift travel. The power of Kuuvahki is versatile, not only facilitating quick movement but also assisting in solving puzzles, neutralizing adversaries, and shielding against attacks.

A Nod-Krai weapon series will be craftable from blueprints.

In Nod-Krai, the game environment and non-player characters (NPCs) react differently based on the character you choose to play as. For instance, Lauma is supported and respected by animals, while Flins can hear the cryptic whispers of the Wild Hunt undead creatures that are incomprehensible to any other character. Additionally, Ineffa and Aino gain access to additional dialogue options with certain NPCs.

In simpler terms, at Nod-Krai, you’ll find unique items that can be accumulated to buy aesthetical enhancements for the characters Aino and Ineffa, directly from Aino’s personal workshop.

Meeting Points let you interact more closely with characters, combining Story Quest and Hangout Event aspects. Enhancing these spots provides benefits too. The latest addition, Selenic Chronicles, offers a similar experience, allowing you to spend time with the Damsellette.

In the upcoming update Luna I, we’ll see the introduction of two fresh Artifact sets: Silken Moon’s Serenade and Night of the Sky’s Unveiling. Additionally, a new world boss, Radiant Moonfly, will offer Flins and Aino’s ascension material.

The Valiant Chronicles can be obtained from the Adventurer’s Guild. These Bounties target Local Legends, offering additional rewards for defeating these formidable enemies.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Stygian Onslaught and Imaginarium Theater are about to receive updates! The Imaginarium Theater is getting an entirely new Lunar Mode, which players like me can delve into. If we excel in this mode, we’ll be rewarded with tradeable artwork cards – a fantastic addition to our collection!

Moreover, Envisaged Echoes are coming soon for Nahida and Yelan. This means I’ll have more opportunities to hone my skills and strengthen these characters in my gaming world!

To add to the collection, a commemorative album for the anniversary will be created, and an updated version of the Genius Invokation Trading Card Game is also planned as part of the upcoming events.

In this new version, The Traveler’s Tales event will now be a permanent fixture for players. To interact with specific characters and influence the available meetings, you can visit the Narukami Shrine.

Here is a list of upcoming optimizations:

  • Exploration content will provide Adventurer EXP.
  • Test Run will provide better tutorials to learn characters’ kits and allow players to claim their rewards immediately, if they’ve completed a certain Test Run in the past.
  • Stardust purchase limit in the shop will be increased and the Battle Pass will feature selectable regional specialties as rewards.
  • The co-op difficulty will be reduced.
  • Treasure Compass can be upgraded via Meeting Point Construction to track oculi, treasures, and treasure clues in Nod-Krai.
  • Lunar Treasury locations will contain Dust of Enlightenment.
  • The fourth affix of 5-Star Artifacts can be previewed when three initial affixes are present.
  • Claiming bonus rewards is easier, as you can always claim double rewards for 40 Resin, while Condensed Resin will cost 60 Resign to craft and can be used for triple rewards.
  • Domains lift their time restrictions for a week after a new 5-Star banner goes live.

Obtaining a top-tier character that you’ve already completed their Constellations for in the future will result in receiving the Masterless Stella Fortuna item. This item enables raising any character’s maximum level up to 100, which grants them superior statistics and more potent Elemental Reactions. If you’ve previously pulled such a character, the Masterless Stella Fortuna will be granted to you retroactively.

A fresh feature named “Temper Yourself and Journey Far” is coming, where you can complete certain tasks to receive one of the Stella Fortunas for Jean, Diluc, Qiqi, Mona, Keqing, Klee, Tartaglia, Albedo, Ganyu, Xiao, Hu Tao, Eula, Kamisato Ayaka, Yoimiya, Sangonomiya Kokomi, Arataki Itto, Shenhe, Yae Miko, Kamisato Ayato, Tighnari, Cyno, Nilou, Wanderer, Dehya, or Baizhu. This system allows players to amass up to four Stella Fortunas annually. Notably, you don’t need to own a character to earn their corresponding Stella Fortuna, implying that characters can effectively be unlocked through gameplay.

At last, it was confirmed that HoYoverse would host a livestream on September 28, 2025, and unveiled the roadmap for the forthcoming Genshin Impact User-Generated Content (UGC) mode – Miliastra Wonderland. This exciting new feature is planned to have an open beta in Version Luna II.
