Not too long ago, there were rumors circulating about a potential revival of the ’90s sitcom “Blossom.” The show starred Mayim Bialik as Blossom, an Italian-American teenager living with her brothers and single father. With its unique fashion sense and memorable characters like the chatty Six, it was a favorite among kids and teenagers alike. Given the resurgence of various shows and franchises, it didn’t come as a surprise to hear that “Blossom” might be making a comeback. However, I regret to inform you that those plans for a revival on Disney+ are now off the table, as Mayim Bialik herself has confirmed.
According to Deadline, she shared this update through Substack. She didn’t imply the ideas and themes were flawed, but rather pointed out numerous industry consolidations and new executives who didn’t find value in continuing the project. The reboot will follow Blossom’s life years later, which sadly diminishes the appeal of the entire series. The show was known for its Gen X-inspired coming-of-age antics. However, Bialik remains determined to bring back a Blossom revival.
Although it might not be desired by many, I’m quite convinced Disney made a misstep with the potential reboot of Blossom. However, that chapter is closed now. We didn’t wish for it, but we have no control over every aspect of it. What remains true is our deep love for this opportunity and our sincere regret that we couldn’t bring it to fruition.
Unfortunately, it seems that ‘Blossom’ is not currently available for streaming, but you can purchase the seasons on Amazon Prime Video. Hopefully, one day we’ll all be able to watch up-to-date episodes of ‘Blossom’.
