In the game, Morphea stands out as the lone figure capable of conjuring summons. These summons essentially enable her to unleash not one but two powerful strikes in a single turn, dealing significantly heavy damage.

Managing the placement of summons can be quite challenging during Player vs Player (PVP) battles and Fiend Hunts, potentially leading to unfavorable formations that you’d rather avoid.

Apart from being used for a preemptive strike on the very first turn, summoned units won’t be able to engage in attacks during the turn they are brought into play.

What does Morphea actually do?

Morphea introduces an innovative new skill feature known as Allied Zone Summoning. Here’s a simplified explanation of its functioning.

(Note: Allied Zone refers to the area around the character where allies are gathered, and Summons is the ability to call upon these allies for assistance in battle.)

Where are the summoned units created?

In simpler terms, when Morphea uses her ability, it summons two units. These units are always placed in the most elevated and leftmost positions on the battlefield, as if you’re looking at it from your team’s perspective. For instance, in the image provided, the first summoned unit was positioned at the top-left spot. Given that Morphea herself was already occupying the next available space (top center), the second summoned unit was placed in the following available space (top right).

What do the summoned units do?

Every summoned character shares identical attributes with Morphea. Yet, any short-term enhancements or penalties inflicted upon Morphea won’t affect the summoned characters.

Summoned units function similarly to regular allies, allowing them to perform a special attack (self-destruct), a standard attack, or inflict a knockback. The special attack is essentially a self-destruct move, similar to Wiggle, and it’s free of charge as it costs no SP. The initial summoned unit, Worship, detonates in a 1-unit wide and 3-units long horizontal area of effect (AOE). On the other hand, the second summoned unit, Slander, explodes in a 3-units tall and 1-unit wide vertical AOE. The self-destruct damage escalates proportionally with Morphea’s level, reaching 700% at +5 level.

Using the summoned units

In a Player versus Environment (PVE) mode, selecting the “Preemptive” feature at the start of Turn 1 causes summoned units to appear instantly on the battlefield. These summoned units function similarly to other allies, allowing you to move them around, adjust their attack order, and choose which ability to employ. To keep these units alive, opt for normal attacks or knockbacks rather than self-destruct skills when engaged in combat with enemies.

If you choose to activate the “Preemptive” feature during your opening turn, it allows you to deploy another skill in the same turn as well. For instance, you could utilize Beach Vacation (pre-emptive) and Daydream Bunny simultaneously, resulting in a total of 3 summoned characters on the battlefield.

Note 1: Utilizing the preemptive skill during round 1 enables summoned units to assault directly in that same round. In all other cases, summoned units cannot engage in combat until the turn following their creation. For instance, if Morphea’s ability is activated on turn 3, you would have to wait until turn 5 before the summoned units can attack or use skills. They will not self-destruct immediately upon turn 3.

Note 2: If Morphea dies, all summons immediately die.

Note 3: When you use Morphea’s ability, additional summoned units will be added to those already present on the field. However, these new summons won’t replace the existing ones; instead, they can accumulate to form a large army!

Morphea for PVE

Morphea is a fantastic unit for general PVE battles.

Initially, she possesses an overwhelming level of power. Her summon abilities collectively inflict a massive 1400% of her magical attack at +5, which is a significantly high damage multiplier. Despite her M.ATK stat being relatively low (at 297), the total damage multiplier on her summon skills more than compensates for this weakness. The power of her summons can also be increased with Apostle Morphea, who enhances damage caused by summoned entities.

Additionally, the area of effect (AOE) of her summoning ability proves incredibly effective at eradicating groups of enemies, particularly those with unusual formations. With two distinct attacks launched by her summoned minions, you have the advantage of attacking two independent clusters of adversaries in a single turn.

Thirdly, Morphea boasts a highly adaptable set of knockback abilities. Unlike other characters, Morphea’s personal attack draws an enemy skip position towards her. Additionally, her summoned allies provide both left diagonal and right diagonal front knockbacks. This unique combination allows for three different knockback options in one instance. In certain situations, all three can even be used simultaneously. To the best of my knowledge, no other character possesses this capability.

4th Point: Morphea is particularly effective against opponents who use evasion tactics (their self-destructive attacks can’t be dodged) and have powerful counter buffs (their counters won’t neutralize your self-destructing summons).

Fifthly, summoning Morphea can significantly aid in absorbing heavy attacks from enemies, thereby protecting your team. In situations where you’re facing off against just one or two foes, these summons can be utilized repeatedly to withstand enemy damage, thus delaying their defeat and allowing you to overcome tougher opponents even when you’re under-leveled.

She is therefore excellent all-round for your PVE team.

PVE game modes

As a devoted enthusiast, I’d say Morphea is incredibly potent against foes with a brief window of heightened vulnerability, typically just 1 or 2 turns. That’s because she has the ability to amass her summoned forces swiftly, covering the battlefield in an instant. When the perfect moment strikes, she unleashes this army during the boss’s most vulnerable state, dealing substantial damage and potentially turning the tide of the battle.

In the Tower of Salvation, Morphea truly stands out. Her diverse arsenal of knockback abilities, her knack for handling counterattacks, and her capacity to summon allies to absorb enemy attacks, all contribute to her being an exceptional choice for the Tower of Salvation.

In the game Tower of Pride, Morphea stands out as a top-tier primary attacker on the Fire level due to her ability to unleash substantial single-target area of effect attacks with her summoned abilities.

Morphea in PVP

Morphea is a meta pick for defense teams.

Prior to Morphea’s introduction, Granhildr was uncontested as the queen of PVP defense teams. In fact, most top-tier PVP defense teams included Granhildr (either Comeback Idol or Void), making it essential for attacking teams to strategize around her presence.

Morphea’s latest move introduces a unique proactive ability, allowing her to summon two new entities that the opposing team must contend with. These summons serve as additional bodies, diverting the attention of the attacking team’s frontliners. By focusing on these summons, the defending side’s other units remain protected. However, if the attacking team opts to bypass the summoned units and target other defensive entities instead, they may incur a strong self-destruct attack from the summons on their following turn.

As a dedicated fan, I’d say Morphea boasts a sturdy build, reminiscent of Rou. Her robust base HP clocks in at 2772, which means she’s got the potential to surpass the 10k HP mark with a defensive boost of 90% or magical resistance. This makes her quite a challenge to defeat when summoned!

Her weakness lies in the fact that her summon’s location isn’t controllable, causing her to often stand near the front row. This makes it convenient for opponents to attack multiple targets using Area of Effect (AOE) abilities. Furthermore, she is quite costly at 5 SP.
