Karen Gillan is now part of the cast for the Highlander remake by Amazon MGM, which means another well-known actor will be wielding swords in the reimagined fantasy series.
Gillan will portray Heather, the mortal spouse of Connor MacLeod and the cherished companion of his existence. In the 1986 movie, Heather’s poignant bond with MacLeod accentuated the personal sacrifice inherent in immortality, as he was compelled to witness her aging while he remained ageless.
Gillan shared on Instagram that for this particular role, she won’t need her dialect coach – she’s thrilled to truly embody a Highlander in the show ‘Highlander’!

The Original Film
In 1986, the movie “Highlander” was released, featuring Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a character from Scotland who unexpectedly learns he is immortal. With Sean Connery portraying Ramirez, MacLeod embarks on a series of battles against other immortals throughout history, leading to a climactic fight in contemporary New York City. This film gained immense popularity and later led to spin-offs, including several sequels and the TV show starring Adrian Paul that ran for quite some time.
What to Expect
As a movie enthusiast, I embarked on a captivating cinematic journey with “Cavill” steering the narrative ship. Director “Stahelski” skillfully weaves the camera through this reimagined universe, striving to reignite the essence while branching out with fresh mythology. The intriguing choice of casting “Gillan” as Heather hints at a faithful emotional tether to the original storyline, yet promises to unfurl new characters and plotlines that expand the narrative horizons.
