Oscar Nunez is coming back to play his character, Oscar Martinez, in a new mockumentary sitcom spinoff of The Office called “The Paper”. This show will debut on Peacock on September 4, 2025. The story revolves around a struggling historical Midwestern newspaper trying to revive itself with the assistance of volunteer reporters. According to reports from Peacock and various sources, this is what the series is about.
The TV series, titled by Greg Daniels, who originated the U.S. adaptation of “The Office,” and Michael Koman, unfolds within the same universe, yet concentrates on fresh office settings and characters. As Daniels expressed in a statement, it’s intriguing to re-engage with the world we designed in Scranton but see it from a new perspective.

The narrative revolves around The Toledo Truth-Teller, a storied newspaper based in Toledo, Ohio, which serves as the central focus. In this role is Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson, a fresh editor-in-chief determined to revitalize the flagging paper. Sabrina Impacciatore portrays Esmeralda Grand, and the ensemble also features Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.
Alongside a recurring cast consisting of Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Eric Rahill, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, and Tracy Letts, the program is set to unfold. The executive producers for this show are Daniels, Koman, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, and Ben Silverman, with Universal Television taking care of production duties.

The production commenced in July 2024, with the main actors being unveiled progressively over subsequent months. In April 2024, it was officially revealed that Gleeson and Impacciatore would lead the cast, while more cast members were added from September to November. Nunez’s comeback as Oscar Martinez was confirmed in February 2025.
This upcoming series aspires to recreate the comedic documentary format that catapulted The Office to success, however, the setting has shifted from a typical office to a bustling newspaper office in the Midwest region. By blending familiar faces with fresh personalities, the show intends to appeal to both devoted followers and those discovering it for the first time.
Mark your calendars for September 4, 2025! That’s the day I’ll be excitedly tuning into Peacock to catch the premiere of The Paper – a brand-new comedy series that promises to deliver a delightful blend of freshness and familiarity, set in the witty world reminiscent of The Office. Can’t wait!
