Netflix Drops Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 Trailer: Confirms Gwendoline Christie’s Return

Netflix unveiled a trailer for season 2, part 2 of the show “Wednesday,” confirming that Gwendoline Christie will reprise her role as Principal Larissa Weems. The last four episodes are set to air on September 3, while the first part is currently streaming.

Watch the teaser below.

Principal Weems Returns as Wednesday’s Spirit Guide

Previously found fatally poisoned by Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci) in Season 1, Weems is back in the latest trailer, but not as a living character. Instead, she returns as Wednesday’s spiritual guide, providing supernatural advice after Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) emerges from a coma following the conclusion of Part 1.

On campus, it’s Weems (Emma Myers) who remains hidden from Enid, but only Wednesday is privy to her presence as she steers Wednesday through encounters with Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), malfunctioning abilities, and the challenging situation with her mother Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones).

According to co-creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, they had always intended for Christie to return. Millar referred to the relationship between Wednesday and Weems as a highly popular one among fans. Gough further mentioned on Netflix’s Tudum that no character in their universe is really “completely dead.

Christie on Playing a Different Weems

Christie portrays Weems as delicate and sensitive in this version. For Season 2, Colleen Atwood reimagines her wardrobe, moving away from the influence of Hitchcock’s “The Birds” towards a more subtle aesthetic reminiscent of “Vertigo.” The color palette softens, her hairstyle becomes more refined, and there is no longer the iconic red lipstick. This change mirrors the sadness and enigma surrounding Weems’ spectral existence.

Season 2 Release Schedule

  • Part 1: Four episodes streaming now on Netflix
  • Part 2: Premieres September 3 with four new episodes

The sneak peek hints at deeper mysteries involving the supernatural, as Wednesday’s battle against hidden dangers persists – this time with guidance from a source beyond the world of the living.
