Apart from being the top-rated film globally, “Weapons” doesn’t seem to be wrapping up its success anytime soon, as Zach Cregger hints at a potential sequel.
In a recent interview, the director shared that he’s been brainstorming another concept within the same universe.

Weapons Sets New August Horror Record
On Monday, a horror film raked in an impressive $5.2 million – marking the highest single-day gross for a horror movie in August. This figure surpasses both The Sixth Sense’s earnings of $4.35 million and New Line’s Annabelle: Creation’s take of $3.6 million on their respective Mondays.
The movie earned an impressive $43.5 million during its initial weekend, setting a new record as the top August opening for a horror film.
The production cost for these weapons amounts to approximately $38 million. To reach a point where the investment is recovered, around $95 million is needed, a milestone that is expected to be achieved during the second week.

Strong Weekday Holds and Second Weekend Outlook
On Monday, the film’s performance surpassed the initial Mondays of “Final Destination: Bloodlines” ($5M), “Get Out” ($4.1M), “28 Years Later” ($2.8M), and “Five Nights at Freddy’s” ($4M). Tuesday is projected to earn approximately $7M, surpassing the Tuesday earnings of “Get Out” ($4.9M) and “Final Destination: Bloodlines” ($6.1M).
Based on professional predictions, we could witness a decrease of at least 50% in revenue this weekend, amounting to roughly $21 million. However, if positive word-of-mouth persists, there’s a possibility that the performance might be stronger than anticipated.
