Fans of Hellaverse and Homestuck, the widely recognized internet tale, have some thrilling news to look forward to! At this year’s Animate Orlando event, the creative mind behind popular series like Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, Vivienne Medrano, made an unexpected announcement. Her team, SpindleHorse, is currently developing an animated pilot for Homestuck.
Originally debuting as a webcomic in 2009, Homestuck swiftly gained immense popularity and was known for its captivating narrative about a band of adolescents battling against the apocalypse. Although the webcomic concluded in 2016, some speculated that the story had reached its conclusion.
On the other hand, Medrano and her team are planning to resurrect it in a fresh guise. Meanwhile, Hellaverse is engrossed in forthcoming installments of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, this new venture demonstrates that they have even bigger ideas up their sleeve.

For this pilot project, you’ll find some well-known figures among our team members. Richard Horvitz, an experienced voice artist, will be our voice director. Medrano holds the title of executive producer, while Skye Henwood is both the director and writer. Additionally, Mel Shin serves as Storyboard Director, Ben Jones takes on Animation Director duties, and Hone assumes the Art Director role. This gifted team is set to bring a unique twist to the cherished tale.
The lineup of voices for this project is equally captivating. Toby “Radiation” Fox steps into the role of John Egbert, Cherami Leigh brings Rose Lalonde to life, Colleen O’Shaughnessey lends her voice to Jade Harley, Adam McArthur voices Dave Strider, and Brandon Winckler portrays Karkat Vantas. These talented actors have many fans excited about how these characters will be brought to the screen.
The decision about whether this pilot will turn into an entire series, and if it will appear on streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, hasn’t been announced yet. However, given Medrano’s previous successes, it’s quite likely that Homestuck could make its way onto streaming platforms soon.
Currently, enthusiasts have something exciting to anticipate – the first episode set to air this autumn, offering a fresh and invigorating take on the traditional tale.
Together, our team’s collective imagination is crafting an extraordinary and exhilarating animated adaptation of Homestuck.
