‘Goosebumps’ Canceled at Disney+ After Two Seasons

Disney+ has decided not to continue with Goosebumps, bringing an end to its broadcast on their platform after two seasons. Since it was a hit horror anthology inspired by R.L. Stine’s popular novels, the producers at Sony Pictures Television are now looking for other platforms where they can sell and air the show, as reported by industry sources.

Two Seasons and Done

In October 2023, the first season was launched on a weekly basis. It proved to be successful, consistently appearing among Nielsen’s top ten original streaming series for a span of four consecutive weeks.

In January 2025, the second season, titled “The Vanishing“, premiered and made its entire set of eight episodes available simultaneously, however, it did not make it onto any charts.

Globally, these two seasons have accumulated a total viewing time of 118 million hours, with approximately 75 million hours being watched in the United States, and an additional 43 million hours viewed across 16 international regions.

Anthology Format

Each season told a different story:

  • Season 1 followed five high schoolers investigating the death of Harold Biddle decades earlier.
  • Season 2 focused on fraternal twins who move in with their divorced botanist father and uncover strange events linked to four teens who vanished in 1994.

Cast

The first season featured Justin Long, Rachael Harris, Zachary Morris (perhaps you know him as Zack Morris), Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, and Will Price.

In the second season of this show, we see the addition of David Schwimmer from “Friends” alongside Ana Ortiz, Jayden Bartels, Sam McCarthy, Elijah M. Cooper, Francesca Noel, and Galilea La Salvia as new cast members.

Creative Team

The TV series was created by Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, with Hilary Winston serving as the show’s lead producer. A number of executive producers were also involved, including Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Iole Lucchese, Caitlin Friedman, Conor Welch, and Erin O’Malley. This production was a joint effort between Sony Pictures Television and Disney Branded Television.

Goosebumps Legacy

Initially released back in 1992, the popular book series Goosebumps has seen over 400 million copies sold globally across more than 200 titles, including spinoffs. This intellectual property was previously transformed into a TV show during the ’90s and two movies in 2015 and 2018.

This week, a fresh addition to the series titled “Shivers” was made available. It’s the fifth book, named “Goosebumps: The Last Sleepover.”

A new installment of the “Shivers” series, called “Goosebumps: The Last Sleepover,” has been published this week. This is the fifth book in the collection.

Variety first reported on the cancellation.
