In the previous year, it was announced that Amazon Prime Video has greenlit a new prequel series named “Vought Rising,” which takes place in the universe of “The Boys.” The upcoming show will feature Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash reprising their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront respectively.
The story unfolds in the 1950s and delves into the beginnings of Vought, a powerful corporation responsible for our superheroes, as well as the initial escapades of Soldier Boy. It further uncovers the sinister plots of Stormfront, formerly known as Clara Vought, during that era.
Paul Grellong and Eric Kripke, the executive producers, expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming project, stating, ‘We’re thrilled to present the next dark series set in The Boys universe. This is a chilling murder mystery unfolding in the 1950s, delving into the origins of Vought, Soldier Boy’s early adventures, and the sinister machinations of a superhero known as Stormfront, formerly Clara Vought. We can’t wait to shock you with this tantalizing, gory tale steeped in blood and Compound V.’
In Season 2, Aya Cash was introduced to the series The Boys as Stormfront, a former Compound V subject known for her plasma abilities, making her the first successful one. However, her character’s sinister Nazi history led to conflict among the other characters in the show.
In a powerful turn of events during Season 3, Stormfront tragically chose to end her life. The anticipation builds as we delve into the thrilling exploits she shared with Soldier Boy in the 1950s, marking a fresh and intriguing phase in their story.
For the highly-anticipated series Vought Rising, Paul Grellong has been appointed as the showrunner. He will collaborate on executive production duties alongside Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and other talented individuals. The creation of this series is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film playing significant roles in its development.
Initially, Jensen Ackles portrayed Soldier Boy, Vought’s original superhero and a genuine war hero who had connections with the CIA during the Cold War era. In Season 3, his character stirred up trouble, but then was temporarily sidelined. However, at the end of Season 4, it was disclosed that he was still being held by Vought. This spin-off timeline aligns seamlessly with the ongoing storyline.
Apart from the returning actors, the upcoming series “Vought Rising” has also welcomed four new faces to its cast: Jorden Myrie, Nicolò Pasetti, Brian J. Smith, and Ricky Staffieri.
Jorden Myrie, who’s known for roles in “Sherwood” and “Bridgerton”, has been featured in various other productions such as “The Strays” and “Screw”. Nicoló Pasetti boasts credits that include “The German”, “The Last Voyage of the Demeter”, and “The Queen’s Gambit”. Ricky Stafferi, renowned for his portrayal of Theodore Fak in “The Bear” and also serving as an executive producer on the show, has acted in “This Is Us” and “Better Call Saul”. Brian J. Smith is widely recognized for his work in “Stargate Universe”, “Sense8”, and “The Matrix Resurrections”, among others.
