In the animated film “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”, the character Spider-Punk was undeniably the standout star. His unique blend of rock ‘n’ roll attitude, web-slinging abilities, and rebellious spirit made him the most stylish and badass character ever to strum a guitar while battling authority figures. The icing on the cake is that Spider-Punk was brought to life by Daniel Kaluuya, whose charisma imbues every role he plays with an undeniable cool factor. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that Sony is reportedly working on a standalone “Spider-Punk” animated movie. To sweeten the deal, Daniel Kaluuya and Ajon Singh are slated to write the script for the film. The project is currently in its infancy at Sony, but we can only hope that it reaches the big screen.
2023’s film “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” saw Spider-Punk swiftly becoming a beloved character among fans, and he was there to support Miles Morales when he needed him most. We hope that Spider-Punk will play a significant role in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” but it would be fantastic if he could also star in his own movie someday. Marvel Comics’ Spider-Punk, otherwise known as Hobie Brown, was brought to life by Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel. This grittier, more formidable take on Spider-Man is a far cry from Peter Parker, and he has little tolerance for corrupt governments and systems-definitely someone we can relate to. Spider-Punk made his debut in 2015’s “The Amazing Spider-Man #10.
If you’re eager to discover Spider-Punk on your own, whether in preparation for the upcoming movie “Beyond the Spider-Verse”, or simply because he’s cool, we’ve got an explanation for you right here. Here’s a sneak peek.
On Earth-138, unlike Peter Parker who lived in a house, Hobart Brown was homeless as a teenager. However, just like his counterparts across the multiverse, a spider bite changed everything for him. This particular spider had been affected by President Norman Osborn’s toxic waste on this universe. The resulting powers were identical to those of the Peter Parker from the 616 universe. Despite being a gifted scientist and inventing his own web shooters, Hobart found time to play the guitar in a punk band, which made him even cooler than teenage Peter Parker from the 616 universe.
We might not get news about the Spider-Punk film for some time, but we’ll definitely be among the first to buy tickets once it reaches cinemas. Until then, we’re eagerly anticipating another appearance of Spider-Punk when the movie Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (fingers crossed for a 2027 release on June 25) hits the screens.
